Somehow an album that manages to both play it safe and make a bold move at the same time. I see the schtick and I respect it. I guess I was expecting more.
The fifth and (perhaps thankfully) the last R-TYPE by HEALTH, this time leading us through its dark synth soundscapes through the mixes of 6 different flavors of artists.
Purity Ring gives THOUGHT LEADER their iconic “future pop” spin, creating a dreamy track that meshes perfectly with the lyrics by HEALTH.

Crystalpunk starts off extremely strong with a soundscape that masterfully harnesses industrial soundscape however the momentum quickly dies down up until the 8th track, Skem, before crashing down back into its previous pace. Rest of the album leaves much wanting as it never reaches the potential it seemed to have on start.
If nothing else, it is worth listening to for Tongue, Pain & Skem.
A masterful album by clipping. that manages to bring the frontier of hip-hop to a whole new age in mesh with its amazing narrative.
