Two decent tearout tracks, two pretty meh ones. Not bad, but nothing groundbreaking
Man what a fall after Utopia, I know this is a label compilation album, but there's really not much quality here.
There are a few songs here like MM3 and WHERE WAS YOU that I enjoyed, but other than that the songs on here are just so boring. Flat production, mediocre vocal performances and features that don't add much or make the songs worse. Also, I find it really disappointing how this is supposed to be a JACKBOYS album, yet there's barely any collaborations between the Cactus ... read more
Even though I'm a big SVDDEN DEATH fan, I actually never got around to listening to this album. The reason was that when this came out, I was a bit burnt out on music and not really listening to new stuff that much. But with VOYD Vol. 2.5 having come out, I thought it would be a good time to finally check this album out.
The first thing that instantly struck me was just how cinematic this album is. From the little interludes that introduce each act, to how atmospheric a lot of the songs ... read more
In preparation for Clipse's new album coming next week, I decided to check out their most acclaimed album "Hell Hath No Fury" and man does thing absolutely slap. The production is incredible with some super punchy beats that have so much swagger. Pusha T and Malice absolutely slide on these beats delivering energetic and hard hitting performances, while also presenting some very catchy and melodic hooks. This album honestly feels both dated and modern, with some very clear 2000s ... read more
Yeah, compared to Shipment 1, this is quite a bit weaker, though still pretty decent. The one thing that this does have over the first installment is that the highs on this compilation are higher, the songs from DVEIGHT, MOB & Madcore are genuinely superb and something that I seriously see myself revisiting. However, this project is far less consistent, with much more duds in the track list. All in all, still a somewhat enjoyable listen, though a lot less consistent than Shipment 1.
So like a lot of people I discovered Jerry Heil through their participation in Eurovision 2024 and after seeing that they have a new album out I decided to check it out. And I have to say, I really enjoyed it. While there were a couple of meh songs, the majority of this album was super solid, with great, punchy production and fantastic vocals from Jerry and her collaborators. The thing that I enjoyed most about this album was the variety, you some pop songs, some more folky cuts and even some ... read more
Following up her "P.O.P" EP from last year, Marina Satti is back with a new album, and just like that last EP, this project is bold, wild and fun. The production on these songs is again fantastic, blending electronics with elements of Greek music, to create some really interesting sounding stuff. The vocal performances are great, though it's a bit jarring when she sings in her really high pitched voice. And I enjoyed the variety on display, with some slower songs helping to break ... read more
As someone you enjoys square 4 riddim I found this compilation to be pretty enjoyable. A good majority of the songs hit hard and quite a few of these songs take me back to when I was first discovering riddim. That being said what hold this comp down is a couple of misses and a lack of real standout songs. In essence, a lot of the songs here are good, but nothing super standout. Still, I enjoyed my time with this project and I plan to check out the other Shipment compilation in the near future.
The most meh of the Silk Selection series thus far. The last two tracks are quite nice and close out this project well, but first four songs don't really do it for me, they just feel quite uninteresting.
You know what, fuck it this EP goes super hard. Tokyo Machine's debut EP leans more into bass music, especially dubstep and I think Toki pulls it off well. I love the super punchy, metallic production, the energy on these songs is fantastic and I imagine these tracks would go super hard in a live setting. Overall, this is just a really fun, heavy dubstep EP, that also feels distinctly Tokyo Machine.
Despite the fact that I'm Lithuanian, I don't really listen to a lot of Lithuanian music, but I decided to check out this new Jessica Shy album. For those who don't know Jessica Shy is probably the biggest artist in Lithuania right now and her music is absolutely inescapable. Now I've heard a quite a few singles from Jessica, but this is my first time listening to any of her albums and I have to say, it's was a really great listen.
I really enjoy the moody pop vibe of ... read more
So this is the first album I've listened to from Sudden Lights and I have to say it was a very nice listen. The album is super vibey and makes for a great listen on a warm summer night. The vocals are great, the instrumentals are great, just a great album all around.
While this probably isn't objectively a 0, man I absolutely can't stand this album.
This whole project just feels so hollow and gimmicky, all the songs here try to convince that they're super hype party anthems, yet they all feel hollow and flat, with some of the worst, most uninteresting drops in recent memory. The vocal features are also terrible, all of them just try to inject some life into this album by screaming in your ears, but it just feels so fake. And some of the ... read more
A pretty decent fun EP from Curbi with some catchy party EDM tunes, while also having a few dud tracks that drag it down a bit.
New EP from Benny The Butcher and it's pretty decent. There are some pretty enjoyable songs like "Sign Language", "$ & Power" and "Toxic", and the other song are pretty okay too. Overall, a not bad little project.
So I finally got around to checking out Knock2's debut album and it's pretty good, though a bit underwhelming. Now I'm been a fan of Knock2's music ever since I first heard dashtar in late 2021. And since then I really enjoyed the two EPs they had put out up to this point.
Now, to start off with the positives I really like the fact that Knock2 is experimenting with different genres and sounds on this album, it brings a lot of variety to the record and keeps it from becoming ... read more
