I love reviewing albums nearly two years late.
KA$HDAMI was, at one point, one of the princes of the underground. Along with the likes of Tana, SSGKobe, and yvngxchris, Dami was seen as a promising rapper who flowed on dreamy pluggnb production with minimal autotune. Despite coming after both Alternative Trap and Body High, to me, X is the awkward middle child. At this point, LUCKI's addictions had taken control, clearly affecting his musical output. This reflects in X's mixing flaws, ugly beats, and general imperfections. Don't get me wrong, I still like some songs on this project. The highs are still quite high, but it's considerably worse than both Alternative Trap and Body High.

Alright, so after Alternative Trap, LUCKI went through a bit of transformation from primarily being a drug dealer to mainly being a drug user. Specifically, LUCKI's drug of choice is Xanax, which he references constantly during Body High. After all, this album is the culmination of an 18-year-old going on a Xanax binge for a whole summer straight, while recording an album with his right-hand man (Plu2o Nash).

"Alternative Trap" is my favorite rap album of all time-- period.
There's something just magical about this album. From Lucki's sleepy flows to the beautiful, atmospheric production: this album dominates a lot of fronts. Honestly, I've listened to this album in its entirety probably over a hundred times and it hasn't gotten old yet. Even more incredibly, LUCKI was only 17, my age, when he made this.
