KA$HDAMI - oasis
56

I love reviewing albums nearly two years late.

KA$HDAMI was, at one point, one of the princes of the underground. Along with the likes of Tana, SSGKobe, and yvngxchris, Dami was seen as a promising rapper who flowed on dreamy pluggnb production with minimal autotune. Dami's mixtapes, epiphany and HYPERNOVA, established his place in the underground, but Dami's album WORLD DAMINATION made him lose footing. WORLD DAMINATION" was a boring listen, and it facilitated Dami's fall ... read more

LUCKI - X
67

Despite coming after both Alternative Trap and Body High, to me, X is the awkward middle child. At this point, LUCKI's addictions had taken control, clearly affecting his musical output. This reflects in X's mixing flaws, ugly beats, and general imperfections. Don't get me wrong, I still like some songs on this project. The highs are still quite high, but it's considerably worse than both Alternative Trap and Body High.

Now, one thing that's apparent with X is that ... read more

Yung Fazo - ZO
86

Who would've thought that Yung Fazo, of all people, would end up making one of the best rage projects of all time. lmao.

I've been into the underground rap scene starting in my middle school days in 2021, and since then I've seen artists come and go. Honestly, before his resurgence in 2024, I thought that Fazo was one of those that had went. After all, at that point, all of his biggest songs had been because of features from artists that I'd considered more interesting like ... read more

LUCKI - Body High
93

Okay, where do I start...

Alright, so after Alternative Trap, LUCKI went through a bit of transformation from primarily being a drug dealer to mainly being a drug user. Specifically, LUCKI's drug of choice is Xanax, which he references constantly during Body High. After all, this album is the culmination of an 18-year-old going on a Xanax binge for a whole summer straight, while recording an album with his right-hand man (Plu2o Nash).

So, in my review of Alternative Trap, I stated that ... read more

LUCKI - Alternative Trap
92

"Alternative Trap" is my favorite rap album of all time-- period.

There's something just magical about this album. From Lucki's sleepy flows to the beautiful, atmospheric production: this album dominates a lot of fronts. Honestly, I've listened to this album in its entirety probably over a hundred times and it hasn't gotten old yet. Even more incredibly, LUCKI was only 17, my age, when he made this.

The thing with this album is that there are low points. I, for ... read more

ian - Goodbye Horses
61

Lock in, this is a good project and a major improvement over "Valedictorian."

Edit: 70 -> 61 (there's a lil too much filler here to merit a 70.

Eric Reprid - FUCK YOU
70

Alright, I've been listening to Eric Reprid's music for a long time. Fun fact, his album 3TERNITY was my first review on AOTY. That being said, this mixtape marks a notable departure from his previous sound.

Now, is it better than his old stuff? Nah, but it's different and I like that. Also, every single song on this mixtape is hilarious: some of these bars are ludicrous. The production on this mixtape is the best of Eric's career, by far. However, Eric's vocal ... read more

92

For a long time, I've wanted to review this album, but I couldn't figure out a way to express my adoration for this project in words. Today, I think I'm finally ready.

Now, no album is perfect and HOB is no exception, but I think HOB comes closer to that mark than any other album I've listened to. From The Weeknd's majestic vocals to the epic R&B production-- I can't think of another album that sounds like this. I think Thursday and EOS, the other albums in ... read more

JPRO - PMD3: VVS
79

PMD3: VVS is JPRO at his finest hour. Pretty much all of my previous gripes with JPRO's music aren't a problem with PMD3: VVS and almost everything that I liked about JPRO is improved upon here.

First off, the beats. WOOOH! These instrumentals are fire asf. JPRO went 13/13 on the instrumental side of things because all of these beats bang and additionally (and most importantly) match JPRO's vocals and delivery. This was a relief for me because one of my problems with the ... read more

Jonah Zed - LOVEGONEBY
87

LOVEGONEBY is another excellent project by Jonah Zed.

This summer, I got into Jonah Zed's music while I was attending a summer camp that I hated. The camp was a miserable experience, but having Jonah Zed's music (specifically his EP Joyride with Kwe The Artist & executively produced by Patrick Cc:) playing in my Airpod made the time I spent there a better than it would've been without it.

Needless to say, I was quite hyped for Jonah Zed to release new music, and LOVEGONEBY is just as ... read more

PinkPantheress - Heaven knows
69

Well, Heaven knows this is a pretty good album!

My bad for that deplorable pun. Anyway, I'm not gonna structure this review I'm just gonna do some quick yapping (as the kids say).

Alright, Rema's verse on Another Life sounds like a worse version of Destroy Lonely's verse on Turn Your Phone off and I'm not rocking with the organ at the beginning of that song. Otherwise, this album is near being immaculate.

Edit: 83 > 69

As time has passed this album has grown off me quite a bit. First ... read more

Luca Maxim - Nearly Cried Of Happiness
83

Luca Maxim is an artist that I first learned about after viewing one of his ironic TikToks, which was soundtracked to his song "Do U Bleed At All?" Whilst the content from Tiktok was funny, the thing that made me keep watching was "Do U Bleed At All?", which, despite how it was presented, was unironically a great song. Luca Maxim's singles following "Do U Bleed At All" were also all very good. Although none of quite them topped the masterpiece "Do U Bleed At ... read more

MaxyBoy - MaxyBoy Mondays
20

Say what you want about a man rating his old EP, but I don't care.

"MaxyBoy Mondays" was a big turning point for me as an artist, I was finally getting into a groove with a more melodic, Juice WRLD-esque sound. However, I wasn't 100% there yet.

Anyhow, one thing that bugs me about this EP now is how damn quiet it is. I really should've turned up the volume on some of the mixes here. Although that is an unfortunate side effect of using 10$ Sony headphones with no bass, luckily I'm ... read more

Pi'erre Bourne - Grails
67

Grails is a fairly good project by Pierre Bourne.

Ever since I discovered Pierre Bourne's solo music from the song "Drunk And Nasty" showing up on my Release Radar, I've had an interest in the futuristic sound of Pierre's music. On Grails, I'm pleased with Pierre's sound with a consistent quality after the boring projects: Good Movie and Space Age Pimping which Pierre had released previously.

Now, in terms of the music here, it's generally decent but that being said, there are some ... read more

JELEEL! - REAL RAW!
75

This project by JELEEL! is a lot of fun, and that's what it should be.

I first discovered JELEEL! from hearing his hit "DIVE IN" while scrolling through my TikTok fyp, and I must say that at first, it was not my favorite. Actually, "DIVE IN" is still far from JELEEL!'s best in my opinion. However, I dove deeper into JELEEL!'s discography and I discovered his Generation Z EP. This EP blew my mind. Instead of aggressive rage-heavy JELEEL!, this EP had JELEEL making more ... read more

JPRO - PMD3
46

Ah, it's time to review another album in JPRO's Pressure Makes Diamonds Series. And I'm not trying to be too harsh on PMD3 but this is the worst one yet. However, it's for different problems that I didn't encounter with PMD2 and PMD1. Now JPRO is kind of going back to his roots as I find this album having more similarities with PMD1 than PMD2 but honestly, this feels like a step back from PMD1. See the first two tracks of PMD3: Change In The Season and Crutches. (I'm ignoring the intro because ... read more

Drake - Honestly, Nevermind
24

'This album is for people who party in casinos in Ibiza, not people who live in their Mom's basement in Virginia"

Shut up, please.

In reality this new album by Drake: Honestly, Nevermind, makes me think the same thing as the album title. I regret listening to this for the most part. There is 3 good songs here, on a 14 song project made by one of the biggest artists in the world. Now Aubrey let me ask you a question, were you even trying? Because I like singing Drake, in fact I might ... read more

JPRO - PMD2
32

PMD2 is not as good as PMD1, it just isn't. PMD2 sees JPRO mostly going away from the Chill beats of PMD1 that spawned songs like: Jump, THC, and Fight, and switching to rapping on rage beats which I see as a big mistake. JPRO just isn't as good on these beats and it shows. In fact the best songs on this project are the ones in which JPRO goes towards these chill beats: for example Zone, and Align. Now you may ask, has JPRO's lyrics improved? And my answer to that question is a definite no. Now ... read more

JPRO - Pressure Makes Diamonds
61

PMD1 is in my opinion almost a little underrated. For all the memes surrounding JPRO, I honestly found how much I enjoyed this album a little surprising, like I unironically enjoy some of these songs. However there are problems with this album, for example JPRO'S lyrics can be lacking at times with not much variety with the topics JPRO raps about. However this isn't necessarily bad its just that the album can get quite repetitive at times. Also in general the beats on this album are pretty fire ... read more

Eric Reprid - 3TERNITY
83

3TERNITY is a great mixtape which I enjoyed immensely. On this mixtape Eric Reprid really impressed me with his versatility, from slow acoustic songs like Shannons song to hype bangers like Vam, Eric Reprid keeps up with making sure each song really holds its own. The production on this album is also on point and I really didn't see any problems on that point. Reprids voice is somewhat unique and these tracks do a good job of highlighting it. In general I think the slower acoustic songs on ... read more

"I disagree, I think that JPRO has a lot of potential and has delivered on it at times. He’ll never be a top tier lyricist but his flow can be good. Tbh I went a bit too harsh on PMD3, In retrospect this is more of a 50. Better than PMD2 (I think) and worse than PMD1. Last Week and Crutches have grown on me a lot."
