There are no good or bad ideas to the Butthole Surfers. After all who are they to judge good from bad? Just put them out there and see what happens.
Anyway clean it up made my physically Ill.
Rushed to meet the commercial moment, lacks focus and invention. Dabbles with some country elements but little of it works particularly well or comes together in a cohesive way.
The fact that every country artist except zach bryan is on this says a lot.
I hope the country radio play was worth it post
Feeling pretty meh on the first half. Vocals are kinda buried and the production is fairly low key. The second half breaks away from this. some banger singles and deeper cuts in there. Just wish I felt the vibe in the first half more. Dawn FM captures the themes in these fist 5 or so tracks much better.
Beat choices just don't work for me and lyrically it's just continuation of Beauty Behind the Madness. Couple bangers though
A very cozy listen. The nature themes are well integrated and makes the whole album tie together nicely. Doesn't really feel like she gets out of first gear at times however.
There's a lot of artists in the same lane as Kacey currently and this project does not make her stand out. Instrumentation is basic and understated and the emotional beats are on uninspiring or at times weird. I quite enjoyed Cardinal to start and I think the Architect has a novel idea behind but I just couldn't get invested in anything else. Kacey's vocals are pleasant but they just don't make something I want to come back to all on their own.
Not everything here works, but the ideas are always interesting and Keem's personality is always coming through. A flawed but great listen
It's hard to find anyone better in this genre at the moment. Riffs are heavy but clean the themes are occasionally corny but priest has the pedigree to pull it off.
Everything about this is taken so seriously and played so straight despite some truly bizarre song writing and lines. Maybe if the tone was more light hearted I could laugh along with Taylor on some of these. but the humor does not feel intentional. The production is as safe as ever which makes pretty much every track on here listenable in the background, just don't pay attention to what she's saying.
Numb/Encore is overrated. Just Jay Z rapping on a Linkin Park instrumental and his verses don't thematically fit with the original. would've rather had until it's gone. But I think that's just me.
Not a big indie rock fan, but was feeling a couple tracks here more then I would normally expect. Some of these are just a bit too quirky for their own good.
