comfortably his worst work under the name jpegmafia and it's not that it's bad, it's surprisingly underwhelming, unnecessarily bloated, creatively limited (the infamous peggy flow all over the album) and conceptually empty compared to his older albums. when it dropped, i lay down my life for you was my favorite album from him so far and him working with ye on vultures before the release of that record and no-bullshit, straight-to-it attitude of the album was a huge plus for me at ... read more

well, he did live up to the hype. this was really like hov dropping reasonable doubt last. amazing showcase of inspirations, flows, cadences, production. as his most ambitious work, people are going to look back on this album and say he achieved his full potential as an artist. of course i love forest hills drive and 4 your eyez only, but the fall-off is the example of practice makes perfect.

even though it does feel like a compilation of demos, at least the songs sound near finished and at least it's longer and has more songs than his last effort. it's fine though. (and the single run was fire, but the singles were the best songs on the album)

daniel caesar going full singer-songwriter direction, blending gospel and folk. brought out the avengers to write and produce some of his most personal songs yet. i love the religious direction as well regarding his upbringing as a person. definitely my favorite album from him so far.

for me, tame impala's standarts are like, this epic, grand clash of sounds and lyrics that co-exist with each other to create a one-in-a-lifetime experience. of course, this album meets none of it but it is not a bad record by any means. i found myself digging deep into a lot of ideas that were presented and liked how skeletal and raw they were. the sound and the name of the album go along with each other, "dracula" feels like it shouldn't even belong on the album, ... read more
the guitar is back, the drums are back, it's all analogue again. i really liked end of summer and its switch up, him going back to his roots for this single is always a dear welcome from me. really excited for this album, it is gonna be his most left-field project yet i think.
i'd prefer his other projects but this is still a very engaging record, i love to see him finally liking shit and going outside

it's not fulfilling like the forever story, but he is here to prove us again that he is one of the most important voices of the modern day hip-hop. left field production, great guest spots, high-level bars, i mean what can i say? i had to take a week to digest all of this album. it might end up as a future classic, but as i said it didn't fulfill me like the forever story. he has already proven who he is, this album shows how couraged he is to take bold steps as an artist.

excited for the album. great house track all around. textures of french house scene, techno and even 90s jungle. some fans are going to be really disappointed about the change of direction, but this track is really made in tame impala fashion, i hear the influences yet it still sounds like a song kevin parker would make. it doesn't overstay its welcome, which is a huge plus for a 7-minute track. kevin parker has pulled off 7-minute odysseys before, hence "let it happen", ... read more
