listening to this in full for the first time and realising I'd already heard most of it as nightcore versions in my childhood was so funny. I was really surprised seeing both Bruno Mars and Adam Levine in the song credits, but honestly found their contributions to be kind of uninspired and almost rejects of their own respective works.
favourite songs: Angel with a shotgun, Temporary bliss, La la
somehow simultaneously masterfully produced and incredibly frustrating. There are these moments that break through and leave you anticipating more only for them to somewhat fizzle out, though I found myself really loving the distinct bursts of industrial sounds expected from Reznor when they did happen. The intent is at times clear, at times hazy - but maybe that's the point.

I've been fiercely loyal to 2004-2006 era McFly for the longest time sheerly because of how much I love the kind of surf rock sound they were focusing on during those years, but it's meant that I've never really checked out above the noise beyond the lead single 'shine a light'.
