I don't want to be that guy that just hates on Justin Bieber, but I am not a fan of this album. I never have been a fan of Justin's music, but he did have some good songs in the past. Unfortunately, this album has either mid, boring, or straight-up horrible tracks.
Before I go in, let's start with the good. There's not really much to say, but let's try to stay positive. The first track, "All Around Me", isn't that bad. He starts off the album sounding good. His singing is genuinely pretty good on this track. The instrumental is moody and kind of sensual. I wouldn't say this song is groundbreaking but honestly, it's not bad. Speaking of not that bad, Quavo had an ok feature. "Intensions" is a garbage song, but Quavo was alright. I liked his flow. "That's What Love Is" also wasn't that bad. I do like his singing on this track. It is expressive unlike most of the other tracks. I think that's it. I can't think of anything else that was good.
Now let's talk about the bad. First of all, the production is so bland. I do not like how cheap-sounding the trap beats are. After listening to songs like "Take It Out On Me", "Confirmation", and "Available" I just want to go to sleep. Each song sounded like the next. There is no variety. Other than Quavos ok feature, the other features definitely did not try. Even though most of the features were awful, I would rather listen to them instead of that atrocious Lil Dicky feature on "Running Over". When will he realize that he isn't funny or entertaining? "I got all up on your IG and was scrolling down for hours I got back to 2015 and you started looking young, so I stopped" is probably the worst line I've heard all year. Several of the hooks on this album is pretty annoying. "Come Around Me", "Changes", and "Forever" have horrible hooks, but it isn't nearly as bad as "Yummy". I don't even have to explain how trash this song is. I am sure we all know how bad this song is.
I think the biggest problem with this LP is how boring it is. Other than a couple of tracks, none of the songs are horrible. They are just not interesting. He really kept it safe. I also feel like Justin was at his best when he was trying to make happy pop hits. I don't think moody R&B is the right lane for him. I will be giving this album a 26.
