Love this direction for the band, but it doesn’t quite stick the landing as well as tranquility base. This feels like tranquility base, but without the interesting concept or as much variation. Still some solid tracks throughout like Mirrorball, Body Paint, and Big Ideas. Perfect Sense feels like a weak closer and kinda ends it in a way that makes the project feel incomplete. Still a solid listen though.
Maybe it’s just the bleakness of their last single, but this is definitely one of the best muse tracks since the Black Holes era. Everything from the dramatic verses to the tapping solo is just so reminiscent of the classic muse I fell in love with. Saw it live a few weeks ago and it slapped even harder.
