Why has it taken me up until now to discover Rowland S. Howard??! Better late than never I suppose! I really enjoyed Teenage Snuff Film, but this album for me is just on another level. So utterly gorgeous that I had to listen to it three times in a row. (I Know) a Girl Called Jonny is one of the most beautiful songs I've listened to in a very long while. Keen to check out more and dive into his history.
Suuuuper underrated! Was surprised at how much I enjoyed this - a pretty damn good prog rock album. Can definitely see myself coming back to this one a lot in the future.
Was unfortunately quite disappointed by this album. Well produced overall, however, I find Flür's vocals and lyrics to be the weak link. I will say, Night Drive is an absolute banger of a track - have had it on repeat for days! There is a lot of potential so am excited to see what he brings with his new album!
I've had the song 'Gonna Get Over You' on my music rotation for years! Figured its probably about time to listen to the rest of the tracks on this album. Didn't disappoint at all - a super underrated disco album!
Holy shit. Why the hell have I been putting off listening to this album?! Actual perfection.
I know this is a Scientology album and all, but I don't hate this? A couple of the tracks, although super cheesy 80s schlock, are kinda fun. Really not a fan of Winter's vocals though.
Y'all thought Love Beach was bad? Well you ain't seen nothing yet.
The album starts off slightly promising with the first track, Hand of Truth, which has some nice keyboard work. The quality just completely goes off a cliff after this. The production on this album is absolutely abysmal. Many of the tracks here, such as 'Daddy', are laughably bad. An affront to god, honestly.
If you couldn't tell from their previous album, they had obviously lost touch by this point. Truly a sad, sorry end for ... read more
After 14 long years, ELP decided to join forces once again...and this is the result.
I was taken aback by how different Greg Lake sounds here, I hardly recognised him. Although there were some decent moments at times, this was an overall forgettable album and a bit of a slog to get through. It is a tad better than Love Beach though, I'll give it that.
I've been avoiding listening to ELP's later albums for years as I've heard they're not great. I've finally decided to get around to them, starting with Love Beach and boy, this was even worse than I expected. Absolute straight trash with some cringey lyrics at times. However, I will say Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentleman is a pretty decent track.
This album is such a fun time! Very silly, over-the-top but equally charming. Some punchy riffs going on here. If King Gizzard, Judas Priest, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail had a love child, this band would be the result.
Mixed feelings about this record. I really enjoyed a couple tracks, but feels a bit tired overall. Obviously it is not the same without Gabi, and I respect that Robert continued with finishing the album.
The record harkens back to the sounds of their earlier albums, and is overall a decent send off.
Such a sweet and solemn sounding album. I've always loved Rick Wright's vocals, so delicate and beautiful. I really wish he sung on more tracks with Pink Floyd.
Would say this is probably one of my fav solo albums by any of the PF members.
Debut album by prog rock-jazz fusion band, Brand X. An album I just keep on coming back to. Nuclear Burn is insanely good!
Such an excellent, complex, and energetic album, with all members showing off their virtuostic talents. The bass playing on this album is to die for! I'm a big fan of Phil Collins' solo work + Genesis and this is definitely him at his best, this project allowing him to show off his drumming chops.
My favourite Brand X album that i've listened to so far, however i have yet ... read more
I don't know what it is, but this album scratches some animal part of my brain. Swingin' Spathiphyllums makes me go FERAL.
It's a super cheesy, 80s teen pop album, however, it's just so damn fun! I can understand why people dislike the album, but I really enjoyed it despite how corny some of the tracks and George's "rapping" is. Some great catchy and groovy songs, capturing the spirit of youth with summer vibes!
