I would call this genre absurd electronic. It's quite a wierd album. While I find that tracks are not so repetitive that the album get's agrevating, I also think that changing the sound up a bit more would give it some more color, more luster. More depth with other textures or even intruments could lift the music up. I would recommend giving this album a listen. Also one track just repetitely calls you a slur, which is pretty epic.
I thought I was about to listen to some crazy hyper acid rap with that cover. Middle track makes my ears hurt :(. fish.
Can't think of another band who would cover Lick Or Sum and Hamburger Lady on the same album. Still can't get used to the minimalist sound of Xiu Xiu though. I tend to prefer the Godspeed and Swan type of experimental music, this makes me really paranoid for some reason. Like I'm some prey and this is a predator, but unlike The Seer I genuinely feel uncomfortable and it's definitely not what this covers album was supposed to do.
