Anyone remember when Bradley Taste wasn't a piece of shit?
Good times.
Anyways, peak. Listen to it.
It's so easy to hate on Mori Calliope because 95% of her music is lowkey buns.
Okay, and then I listened to this song right? Right? RIGHT?
I felt like that GIF of Danny DeVito crying and applauding.
It's.. It's.... It's....... Listenable music....
I never noticed that bubblegum's vocals were mixed so poorly like that, I thought it was intentional for the vibe. But for real, any beat with a saxophone gets me worked up. They both slid on this anyways.
Okay, fine, it's stupid.
And you're stupider.
It goes hard....
Once again, just like Snow Cougars, Yung Gravy excels at making stupid, catchy, upbeat songs. It's all nonsensical - and that's the point. You're just supposed to bop to it and not have a care in the world about how stupid the lyrics are. And goddamn, if it still doesn't go hard.
I remember listening to Alley Oop the day it came out, and goddamn, it lowkey shaped my perception of Rap from that day on - I hate it to admit it, but Gravy half-introduced me to the rap genre ... read more
Grr.. I HATE fun! Stop having fun! Rap should be SUPER DUPER SERIOUS and HARD and LYRICAL!!
But seriously.. I listened to this when it came out, before Yung Gravy switched up on his Day 1s (😔).. It's still just stupid braggy fun.
Best Tracks : Knockout / Early Afternoon Stroll / Suavecito
Worst Tracks : Kathleen / Mr. Clean
It's.. okay.
It's a VERY, and I mean VERY inconsistent album quality wise - and then it just drags on at the end.
Let's talk about the first half - it's the (somewhat) GOOD section of the album, albeit with some extremely questionable beat selections (such as You Can't Kill Me & Carry On Tradition) and the disaster-class of "Who Killed It?".. But it also has the god-sent gift from heaven itself that is "Still Dreaming", which is genuinely one of ... read more
I think this is Kanye's best album.
Better than MBDTF. Easily.
Best Songs : Heard 'Em Say / Touch The Sky / Drive Slow / Sierra Leone (Remix) / Hey Mama / We Major
Worst Songs : Crack Music | Celebration
Kanye did nothing wrong, he made Drunk and Hot Girls.
Wait, that's not right..
Best Songs : Good Morning | Stronger | I Wonder | Everything I Am
Worst Songs : Drunk and Hot Girls | Big Brother
I listened to it once, and didn't really care. Truly, I related to some of the lyrics, understanding the place where they came from - but the lyricism and beats not really "connecting", if you know what I mean.
And then I re-listened. And it clicked. "I Thought About Killing You" is such a great, atmospheric and personal track (even if the last minute or so is typical Kanye braggadocio rap, which I don't really like on a song like that), and then it immediately ... read more
I used to hate this album more than Yeezus. And that's saying a lot, considering I used to put Yeezus as my worst Kanye album (yes, worse than Ye and JIK).
And then I listened to Street Lights, and I got hit with the realization I was a fool.
A stupid, stupid fool.
Best Songs : Heartless / Love Lockdown / Paranoid / Street Lights / Coldest Winter
Worst Songs : Say You Will | Welcome to Heartbreak
This would be a 10 if it had Never See Me Again on it.
Fuck you Kanye for making such a beautiful song like that and not releasing it.
Best Songs : POWER / So Appalled / Devil in a New Dress / Runaway / Hell of a Life
Worst Songs : Monster | Blame Game
I used to be the firmest denier of Yeezus. I hated the grating instrumentals, the distorted rapping, the general off-kilter vibe..
And then I grew the fuck up.
Then I realized this is perhaps one of Kanye's best albums pre-TLOP.
Best Songs : On Sight / Blood On The Leaves / Bound 2
Worst Songs : I Am a God | Hold My Liquor
Instead of the laid-back Bossa Nova of "just friends", this brings a happier, upbeat tempo Lo-Fi vibe.
I especially enjoy "ivy league", I don't know - those snares or whatever at the start are just mesmerizing, and then the fade out to the far more laid back rainy Lo-Fi is immaculate. Though there are some songs that can be done away with - such as "pots and pans" and "turtleneck", personally not my cup of tea.
Best Songs : sunny / bossa uh / ivy ... read more
This was my introduction to Bossa Nova, via a former close friend of mine.
Bossa Nova is now one of my favorite genres to listen to.
I hold a lot of memories with this album.
This is 51 minutes of pure musical relaxant. It's a must listen if you love Lo-Fi like me.
Best Tracks : im in space / drowsy / take me there / i dont wanna
