Suffering From Success was actually an album I have listened to a lot back then. It offered a few really good performances by rappers like Future, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Lil Wayne or even J. Cole. I think that this right here is one of Khaled's best records he had ever put together. For 2013 most of these instrumentals sound very ahead of their time and the energy is really good on this album. Some of my favourites were; Suffering From Success, I Feel Like Pac / I Feel Like Biggie, No ... read more
Some great cuts on GOD DID, but still not a perfectly shaped out record. It does have some amazing parts by rap giants like Jay-Z, Wayne, Kanye, Eminem and Drake. Especially the songs GOD DID, WAY PAST LUCK, NO SECRET, GRATEFUL & IT AIN'T SAFE were some really strong tracks on this album. Most instrumentals are really cool, for example on PARTY or FAM GOOD, WE GOOD, but they lack great performance and end up sounding a bit wasted. My favourites include: GOD DID, NO SECRET, LET'S ... read more
HABIBTI is my favourite out of the 3 albums we just received and I lowkey knew it's gonna be just from the first half already. It's no secret that I enjoy the RNB and Singing Drake a bit more than the pure rapping Drake and on HABIBTI he delivered a really nice collection of songs that remind me of 'SSS4U' or an early 'Take Care' Drake. I absolutely loved his vocal performance on this thing and loved the whole late night vibe of this album. This is exactly what I ... read more
ICEMAN serves with some crazy production choices and a Drake that sounds very energetic and knows exactly what he wants to do. He knows exactly what he wants to say, how he wants to deliver and a lot of the hidden disses and shots against other rappers/artists were performed perfectly. I am more a fan of the laid back sounding beats e.g. Make Them Cry, National Treasure & B's On The Table. Especially that 21 savage feature is what I really needed. Them both together sound so good on ... read more
Some pretty nice vibes on this album and something that reminds me of Honestly, Nevermind. It doesn't offer too much, but it does what it wants to do and that is bringing dancehall energy. Overall probably the worst out of the 3 records we have received yesterday, but still a nice and enjoyable listen for me and a few songs made it into my playlist. Probably will re-visit this a couple of times.
Kettama's best song to date. I am glad he collabed with Real Lies!
Some great cuts, some meh ones too. I think Kodak had a nice vocal performance but a few of these beats and instrumentals are a bit boring and don't do too much. Still a chill Mixtape with some gems for the Kodak fans.
Pretty funny and dumb lyrical aspects on this record, but Kodak is still mastering his flow on all of these beats and you gotta respect that. Not sure how high Kodak was when he wrote all those lyrics for this Mixtape, but many songs are really nice still. At least for my taste! I like how these songs sound like demos and fun studio sessions. Something about it is just dope in my opinion.
Super fun album with some of Kodak's best moments and tracks in my opinion. Especially the deeper songs like Day For Day, Why They Call You Kodak, Corrlinks and JPay or Tunnel Vision are just so well done and absolute bangers. I love how Kodak was putting fun tracks together with some thoughtful lyrics. Very well produced record as well and to me this definitely stood out in 2017. It's something lots of rappers couldn't make, especially considering that Painting Pictures holds 18 ... read more
Bexey is really not as bad as some people say he is. He is very unique in his own way and I appreciate all the art he had put out in all these years. Outpatients might not be a perfect debut record, but it offers some nice lyrical aspects in songs like STOP THE RIDE, SUFFOCATION or REVENGE SERVANT. The beats and overall performance are pretty much okay for the most part and Bexey definitely delivered something nice for the hardcore fanbase I'd say.
Very nostalgic Mixtape with a lot of good songs and performances! My personal highlight is some of the instrumentals on tracks like Transportin, The Recipe, No Codefendant or Don't Wanna Breathe. I also love Kodak's vocals on this a lot, they sound really well done and are great on these instrumentals.
Love this song so much and it's definitely in my all-time favourites too. Shady Nasty is such a unique musical act that I never thought would be one of my absolute favs one day. CHEST HEIGHT is another really melancholic type of sound and from the lyrics you can tell that this song probably means a lot to the band.
This one didn't do much for me. Song just sounds a bit soulless and without much direction. It's mid at best!
thanks to @definitelyfluen for recommending this record. I think it was an interesting listen and a pretty nice fusion of this ambient style and different types of drum plays such as rock or hip hop type of drums. You can tell that it's meant to be a very laid back record and mostly for the vibes. It's nothing too crazy in my eyes and also something I don't think I will come back to often cause there's still too much open space for me. No vocal performance or any highlights ... read more
I won't give this album a real rating cause it's really not anything I enjoy, but from a twelve year old it's definitely an interesting approach into the world of making music. People say she's very performative and does anything for the attention, but like come on ... she's a twelve year old with the opportunity to go any way that she wants to and do whatever she feels like doing soo I mean it's pretty obvious.
Definitely a step back for Freddie, but not a bad record whatsoever. A lot of the songs on here just fall a bit flat and don't offer much action compared to some of the songs on other albums or even some singles. I do think that songs like TAKE A LOOK, DIE WITHOUT A FIGHT, PURE HATE & SACRIFICE MYSELF are really good tracks and offer solid performances. Some others like ON THE NEWS, NOTHING INTO SOMETHING or USELESS are a tad boring to me and don't offer much in the end. I ... read more
Very under-appreciated project I feel like! Very overlooked as well. There are some great gems amongst this tracklist and lots of nice beats and performances. Especially on tracks like; Ice Cream, Wasted, Run This Town, Surf Swag & I'm Single.
