New review: real record review! (Reviewing albums i physically own)
Wow i really hate the top comments on here, anyways
The third album of the infamous Gizztober, and certainly the one that sticks out the most as an atypical King Gizzard album, leaning more pop than most, but also jazzier and funkier than usually. The standouts here are the fantastic bass playing (shout-out to Stu on Astroturf he cooked there) and the sax. The concept on here is also quite interesting, using the same progression on every track makes everything feel oddly familiar even to new listeners, but could also make no particular track stand out, however, they counter that with very different instrumentation on every song. I feel like you can tell the difference between the opener Change and Gondii pretty easily, for example. The whole mood of this album also feels very warm, even if the lyrics don't always reflect this, like on No Body or Exploding Suns. I appreciate the different opinions about change from the dudes in the opener, that is very cool. So yeah, I'm fond of this one! Maybe not the catchiest of all King Gizzard records, but certainly on the more chill side. 89 -> 85
