The instrumentation and dynamics throughout this entire album was very unique, and I would say that alone saved a lot of songs here from mediocrity, while also enhancing others to their fullest potential.
Shout to the Walls is equipped with a charm that feels unique to NICO. Tatsuya's musical creativity really shines in this record, making for quite an enjoyable listen that gets better every time, even if some melodies are quite mediocre.
For a J-pop industry-created boy band, Intersection actually has some pretty okay tracks that are by no means unique or creative, but are compositionally solid enough for me to enjoy.
I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose screams 2009 alt-rock in a good way. Has a cohesive theme and structure throughout, making for a rewarding listen. Does nothing spectacular, but it does enough to be invigorating.
