Im like that one gif of spongebob crying and running into the background im so excited for this album AAAAGGHHHH
Song of the summer already hoolllyyyyyyy.
I definitely didn’t expect bossa nova out of quadeca, he already dabbled into a bit of it in some of the tracks in scrapyard and idmth, but after hearing this yeah i’m convinced he can pull off a genuinely great bossa nova LP. its kind of jarring going from folk-tronica back to back with idmthy and scrapyard to this but its still welcomed, i had a waaayyy different idea of what vanisher was gonna sound like and this single single-handedly ... read more
everything i loved about Come in, sputnik continues with even further polish and conitnued improvemet
(Current relistens: 5, i still have a fever and i cant structure sentences properly yet but this might just be my aoty early on i love this album)
God is real and one of their greatest modern miracles is making clipping come back with a new album.
After almost half a decade, clipping makes their bombastic return with Dead channel sky, and unlike another artist i wont bother to namedrop, this album is full of vigor and a sort of fresh new sound that clipping has only really dabbled in before, tapping into more acid-techno elements, complimenting daveed's specific verbose, almost poetic style of songwriting that is unanimous with ... read more
Im pretty sure he just made half of these tracks like late december because there is no way in hell did it actually take him 5 years for him to make this
Some of the songs r actually pretty catchy (like weezy, good credit) but then theres just something like opm baby where i think even carti himself didn’t know what was going onπ.
(40 - -> 55)
Lots of people claiming that this album’s gonna have The ‘wlr effect’ that happened before back in 2019, but if im just ... read more
Surprisingly really great what the hell π§
After their monumental rise in popularity after previously considered lost media LP, deathmetal was uncovered, i considered them to just be relatively decent, finding the story behind the band much more interesting than the actual core music.
I found failed in math(s) much more enjoyable, showing signs of growth and maturity in the time deathmetal was released 20 years prior, and with the release of ginkgo, i think they finally reached that sweet ... read more
Almost half way through the game holy shit this soundtrack is amazing what.
They really got an actual priest to sing and chant on the soundtrack
I legit did not knew this existed till i did a deep dive of xiuxiu’s catalogue and omg?? This might be mitski’s best song
It was nice to finally hear The magician officially after only being a Live exclusive song in black midi’s catalogue for a while.
While geordie’s time with black midi was nothing short of monumental, i feel like with the release of his solo album, i feel like all of his creative liberty and outmost potential was unmoored.
(Actual review later after i’m done listening to this 10 times)
You know ironically for a title as insane as this, this is easily the easiest/accessible xiu xiu album to recommend somebody, replacing forget.
Can’t think of much since its 4 am but this is rllyy good guys aaaaaa
This album’s pretty charming, it’s like a campy 60’s cartoon with the whole theme of the LP and the general aesthetics, reminiscent of Ultra 85 by logic released earlier this year.
This is easily jimmy’s best display of lyricism and general flow, coupled with his Tyler, the creator influenced production, this may be the most underrated rap album this year.
I’m really torn on the second track, watcher’s dilemma though, i know jimmy isn’t really in a ... read more
Top 5 single of the year??
This shit is banging, didn’t expect a new clipping. song leaning into a more techno-edm sound but still retaining the horrorcore elements they’re known for.
So incredibly catchy, i think they’ve released two of their most ‘accessible’ songs this year with Tipsy and Run it, while still being brash and abrasive, they sound more akin to an early 2000’s club banger
Such a surprising release this year from an artist i seemingly put off as " Another one hit wonder."
Willow smith's "Empathogen", a complete blossoming of her sound, and i think one of the best pop albums this year so far.
such a satisfying blend between jazz and indie rock, but i think one of the greatest highlights of the entire thing is definitely willow's vocals, so powerful and her complete vocal control is intoxicating.
wish the same could be said for jaden ... read more
obligatory tpab review
i mean yeah its a masterpiece but no replay value thoooooooooooooooooooooooo
Even prior to the album’s release the excitement and hype for this album was astronomically high, and even after all those expectations, it broke through what i was anticipating going in and surpassed the hype that was curated by the singles leading up to the release.
So incredibly layered and entrancing, i had a total of 20 different emotions flowing through me everytime it transitioned into a the next track, Absolute synthpop perfection, i was rocking my feet up in the air for 52 ... read more
I remember accidentally stumbling on this band when i saw the mv for ‘girl scout cookies’ back in 2018 and my 9 year old mind was absolutely blown away because at the time, all i listened to was minecraft parody songs , so this album has a really special place in my heart for straight up introducing me to music and the concept of albums as a whole.
Mom jean’s debut album, Best buds is raw and sometimes whiney, but heartfelt and emotional.
A majority of the criticism this ... read more
