Stick with me as I start this review off by invoking 'absolute maximum kook' - Nurture is the kind of album that can make you a better person.
A joyous celebration of life, personal-worth, learning to love yourself, finding contentment in the present, Nurture is a transformative album that reflects Porter's work to overcome his struggles with self-doubt, creative block, and general anxiety following his rise to sudden popularity following his previous 2014 record, Worlds. Sorry dawg, this one's a no from me, and that's pretty sad coming from a vocalist who truly does have flashes of brilliance scattered throughout his career.
From his self titled debut roughly through his third release, Awake, Josh Groban at one time had established himself as THE artist who could singlehandedly bring back classical contemporary music from the shadow realm and return it to a public that actually wanted it. For God's sake, Closer was by far and away the biggest ... read more
Scavengers Reign is something really fucking special, and while I feel a little weird saying this about a collection of music barely two years old, it's an incredible shame something like this didn't launch Nicolas Snyder's career straight into outer space. That's not to say he hasn't done perfectly well for himself, but the LA -based musician really should be a household name given he's able to produce work of this caliber. This is the best Coldplay album. Fight me.
No seriously, this thing has tracks that under the right circumstances could make a man on his deathbed forget for a second that he still has regrets. There are literally pieces of this album I could go to an early grave to and feel comforted by in my final moments. I don't really know of higher praise than that.
Coldplay's early comparisons to Radiohead are as undeniable as they are ubiquitous. While much of their later work has certainly ... read more
"The room darkened
Candle lit the apartment
Time to finish what you started
Violent screaming final harvest
Fuck your friends
Fuck your life
Fuck 'em all
Fuck 'em twice
Meet me in afterlife
You can meet me in afterlife"
Jesus christ man, this album goes to some dark fucking places. At times, Backcwash's fifth album feel like some of the most upsetting material the Zambian-Canadian rapper has ever written, but at times, it turns around and becomes one of the most ... read more
A hard cut into pitchy a cappella vocals to start the album was a bold choice. As opening track Quartz starts off TV on the Radio's fifth full length LP, you might be forgiven for expecting little of the 50 minute project. A cacophony of droning "aaahs" that more than earns that descriptor, it's an unceremonious start to an album that never quite finds its footing in the following tracks. But that's not to say what's here is bad. It's to say that Seeds is an ... read more
