Jack Harlow - Monica

Calling an album Monica after talking about your blackness is unbelievably funny. This just feels like the wrong album for Jack to be on, his stiffer monotone delivery is not built for soul and he just carries it for most of the album. Often times his voice is drowned out by the stronger instrumentals or the guest backing vocals outshine him. (Honestly the interlude is strong because it is a good vocalist) It's not offensively bad but like it's hard to say it's worth the time. ... read more

Westside Cowboy - So Much Country 'Till We Get There

This kind of experimental is not what I expected from country but I am all for. The mixture of the alternative rock and country fuses into a pretty solid project with a unique sound. It is definitely just a sampler project tho, a lot of the songs feel short and like some of lyrical passages are missing but overall still a great project.

This was not the kind of LP I thought it would be. A$AP Rocky has had this album cooking up for the past 8 years and it sounds like he had a lot of ideas kicking around. Don't Be Dumb has a lot going on which leads to my main issue with it, the album just feels unfocused. Every song jumps to a different idea and while some ideas are interesting, others miss the mark. There are times where a song is strong but weakened by the ending or drift into strange areas. Overall I think there is a ... read more

Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain

I didn't realise how much of this album I had already heard until I sat down and listened to it all. This album is frankly gorgeous, a mix of the sounds that defined the era and Prince's unique and iconic vocal deliveries that blend to a beautiful experience. Nearly every song as something iconic about them and some have lived on for decades. Instantly a true favourite of mine and something I will likely come back to.
