Cool samples and production here and there, just not what I would come back for but it's still great.
On my first listen, it’s actually better than the last album—the new album clearly leans toward a more vague, dreamy soundscape rather than the nostalgic one, and could easily be perfect for drifting off to sleep.
Probably need to give it more spins since I can't quite remember what I just experienced, well, in a good way.
Thanks @paul again for recommending this to me.
Probably the most astonishingly beautiful chamber music I've heard this year so far.
The imagery on the album cover perfectly mirrors the sounds within, as if you've been transported to a remote wilderness, living leisurely in a wooden cabin far from the hustle and bustle. The landscape is filled with lakes and forests, accompanied by the occasional whispers of nature. Even in complete solitude, you never feel a moment of dullness, everywhere you see is refreshing and new. It truly feels like a worldly utopia.
Returning to the music itself, the use of fragmented sound ... read more
I mean, I love this album without a doubt, but I just prefer more of the band's work (for both of the sound and lyricism)
Still, I can see why people enjoy this album so much (actually the score is higher than any of the albums from Daughter lol).
This album leans more toward singer-songwriter, with most the lyrics being personal and vulnerable, which are often praised by the fans, the sound itself also has done amazing job by creating the atmosphere that perfectly wraps up all the sad ... read more
I'm honestly not so familiar with this kind of music, but yeah I really do enjoy the sound, it's a great listen.
Thanks @paul for the recommendation.
Picks: Rest Stop 3 - up Mt. Hurley, Day 4 - Down the Mountain (Mt. Hurley - Pollen Monastery), Final Stop - The Golden City
It's a pleasant listen with more dreamy texture here, just don't hit as hard as Ujubasajuba.
This is an album that immediately redefined my shoegaze rankings the moment the first track started playing (and that's no exaggeration).
The entire album perfectly embodies the captivating charm sparked by the collision of different musical styles. Almost every track progresses upon a post-rock structure, paired with ethereal vocals and an intensely restless wall of sound steeped in a psychedelic atmosphere.
This creates a mesmerizing illusion of being constantly pulled back and forth ... read more
Actually I really like the sound of this one, vocal is not the problem for me tho I think it's fine
Parannoul just never ceases to amaze me.
Compared to Seeking Darkness, which was released in the same year, How I See Nothing but You takes on a distinct ambient vibe with the addition of Mydreamfever, truly shining alongside Huremic.
Even though it's considered an ambient/drone album, after listening to it on repeat a few times, I really feel like his use of noise has leveled up in ways I can't even describe. In Seeking Darkness, the dark, cold noise constantly echoes around you, ... read more
If the previous album, Keeper of the Shepherd, was about chanting the sorrow, then this record is a depiction of how to say farewell to, and reconcile with past emotions and trauma.
This shift has been reflected in the album's arrangement and production. Compared to the previous release, the tone here is significantly more uninhibited but introspective at the same time. Hannah steps into multiple territories, furthering her experimentation with her own folk soundscapes, whether it is the ... read more
Probably his second best album, it's a total different vibe from his previous albums.
It's towards a noiser direction. With the breathtaking loud instrumentals and his best than ever vocals, it makes the listening through pretty much like chaos sometimes, but I dare to say that's the reason why this album can be anxious and warm at the same time.
To describe how I felt after listening in just one word: speechless.
Indeed, I think this band draws a lot of inspiration from bands we all know well, like their vocal and songwriting style immediately reminded me of BCNR's debut album. However, I feel like this album has, to some extent, reached a different level in the art rock scene, and I actually disagree with that it being another BCNR-like album or some derivative stuff. It's distinct enough from other art rock albums with its ... read more
