Bro found a sound he thought was the future and made a whole album off it? A dance album I guess, but some of this is straight unlistenable. Best song is the yeat song fwiw
This is a bit overproduced and tends to avoid the crunchy tendencies that made Bilmuri's early work admirable. A lot of this is simply too commercial - Johnny has always had an ear for the mainstream but Bilmuri is so much better when he's getting experimental with it
I think the defining quality of this album is that no one was making music like this in the genre when it dropped, or if they were they weren't able to bring this sound to the mainstream. Kanye was the only type of rapper that could do this.
If you are like me and like breakdowns announced with variations of FUCK, I introduce you to BIG ASS TRUCK IE. These guys love shouting FUCK YOU or FUCK IT before massive, grungey breakdowns. They kinda sound like Knocked Loose mixed with the ridiculousness of Every Time I Die. They include samples of dudes talking shit about Chevys and day drinking, it's been the most fun I've had discovering a new band in a long time.
