I swear this album is getting better with each listen. In some ways Chat Pile was stuck to a lot of what they have done in the past with this album, but have also transformed and shaped their sound. The sound from the album is quite consistent, and dare I say a little formulaic. Because of this there are some positives and negatives to Chat Pile’s newer sound. I don’t know what it was, but I honestly wasn’t feeling this one. I think this album didn’t really have a theme or consistent vibe/sound to it, which it doesn’t need to have, but it could’ve helped in leaning towards a central direction for where their sound could’ve gone. I found myself slightly enjoying some songs, while viewing most of them as boring and ineffective.
This is probably my most listened to album of all time, and I’ve actually decided to just now review after listening to it dozens of times, and constantly revisiting songs I consider to be some of my favorites.
