The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat

Relistening & Reviewing Albums (Day 7)
White Light/White Heat - The Velvet Underground

Unreal how they managed to follow up TVU&N with an album that, in my opinion, not only rivals but exceeds the visionary and noisiness of the debut-collab. For this review I'm gonna give my individual thoughts on the tracks.

White Light/White Heat:
A very no bs opener track, you hear Lou Reed's vocals instantly followed by the tracks heart-pounding drums. The songs upbeat rock n roll era ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - babygirl

Yknow this track didn't disappoint me, that being said babygirl didn't impress me or excite me a bit for his new album. It just sounds like a b-side from his last album and an inferior track to 'i scream this in the mirror' and 'new black history'.

Pretty strange single choice for how it's stylistically identical to ILDMLFY and outside of peggys nature of keeping his sound fresh.

Ween - GodWeenSatan: The Oneness
NR

GodWeenSatan: The Oneness marks the start of my dive through Ween's discography! I've already heard Quebec but I could tell from the tracklist that this album and era of the band would sound quite different. This is filled to the brim with goof tracks, switching between punk rock, noise rock, and psychedelic rock/pop while being able to fit in the more fully fleshed out tracks that end up sticking the most with listeners (Birthday Boy). Really great proper debut from Ween that ... read more

Relistening & Reviewing Albums (Day 14)
Master of Reality - Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath reaches a new high in distortion with Master of Reality, which is why its often considered their first full-fledged doom metal album. I was actually listening to Sweet Leaf with a friend, introducing them to Black Sabbath, when the news came out of Ozzy's passing. That moment had made the song feel special to me ever since. Master of Reality is definitely one of their most potent releases, from the ... read more

What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

This is Marvin Gaye's pledge of hope to a dying world, addressing issues while focusing on unity as the solution. Everything about this album is warm, pure-hearted, and loving, with a grand message that challenges the listener to better shape the way we live on this Earth. ❤️
