The 2000s Pop Nostalgia is SO REAL with this one!!!! I feel I've been looking for a project like this for such a long time...
It's a little long, but Chappell Roan delivered so hard with this one. It's got everything - punch, emotion, sadness, happiness, sassiness, girlyness, you name it. All wrapped in a beautifully produced 00s pure pop sound. Oh god, I felt like we were back for a second.
Troye Sivan always comes through with his singles. That's true of Rush, My My My! and YOUTH. Absolute bangers. But when the album comes, I always feel sort of unsatisfied.
Although this one delivered solid songs, it still feels like there's something else missing. The production is probably the best of any Troye project but then nothing else is really memorable... Hearing all about RAYE's story in the general pop media has made me (and I hope everyone) sympathetic towards her career. I decided to listen to the Live version of her debut because Live versions are really where it's at. And she has a beautiful voice. So much so that I don't think pop is where she should be headed with such vocal range. The one track they use for this movie constantly getting changed up an down is fantastic. Shame that it lacks variety. It could've potentially been one of the greatest teen rom-com soundtracks for the decade.
At some instances, Taylor Skye turns it up to a point where it feels like a brand new project within itself. With some rocky moments, I<3UQTINVU is an ally to the quirkness of Jockstrap fantastic debut project, I Love You Jennifer B.
