DECENT

I was always more of a Soundgarden and Alice in Chains fan myself. Regardless, once the iconic power chords of Teen Spirit begin, it's difficult not to become enthralled in the energy Cobain, Grohl and Novoselic entertain themselves with.

I have always wished Breed could've been just as much of an anthem as Teen Spirit and Come As You Are have become, however. I am glad, though, that Something in the Way gained a renaissance thanks to some Hollywood blockbuster or other. Iron Man 5: ... read more

Sachiko M - Bar さちこ (Bar Sachiko)

MEDIOCRE

Just like Cage's 4'11" before it, Bar Sachiko is a work whose concept on paper I appreciate more than the actual auditory experience itself.

JID - The Forever Story

DECENT

The energy that JID brings forth throughout The Forever Story is respectable and highly entertaining. However, for an album that I consistently returned to for half the year, each time I've found that it leaves my mind far too quickly for it to really have as much of an impact as other records of its kind. Enjoyable, it most certainly is. One of my favourites, it unfortunately is not.

Death Grips - Government Plates

GOOD

This and Exmilitary are perhaps the best front to back listens in Death Grips' discography. While The Money Store may have the higher highs, the front half of Government Plates holds peaks that they never topped again, and the back half flows so well that it becomes irreplaceable. I'm Overflow through to Bootleg is simply Death Grips' at their best.

GOOD

Along with Exmilitary, the only Death Grips album that I return to fairly often, and only joined by The Powers That B and Government Plates in releases actually worth your time in their otherwise unessential discography. Hacker alone makes up for the rest of the mediocrity that was to come.
