'Who’s Got A Problem With GENA? '
It was an all-consuming passion for hip-hop and jazz sounds that first prompted Detroit-born artist Karriem Riggins to move out to New York in 1994 - while he was 19 years old at the time - and inspired him to join the jazz group Jazz Ahead, led by jazz singer Betty Carter back then as a drummer. From then on, Riggins would go on to shape a meteoric rise, buoyed by his ties with Common and J. Dilla in 1996, as Detroit-based producer would ... read more

What better way to leave a lasting mark in the rock industry with a roaring debut album?
The start of the new millennium reshuffled the deck for rock ‘n’ roll, which was no longer the sole genre in the spotlight. With the advent of the internet—and before the seismic shifts it would bring to mass music consumption- and with the emergence of numerous musical genres in the late 1990s, rock music has arguably lost some of its prominence; ... read more

A couple of years after the release of "The Marshall Mathers LP" in May 2000 - which sold millions of copies in the US - 2002 was marked by the release of Eminem's third studio album, which completes a fabulous run, as this album represents the culmination of his career. Shortly after the year and a half that separates the release of his second studio album, "The Slim Shady LP", released in February 1999, rapper Eminem's notable public appearances and unapologetic lyrics played a significant part in making him a controversial figure on the hip-hop stage: Em's popularity continues to grow, while his public image is drawing increasingly mixed reactions.

Didn't know the Wilson Brothers back then. Then I heard "Don't Go Near The Water" on the "Surf's Up" album (shortly after Brian Wilson's passing last June), and really appreciated it. Almost a year later, the BBC documentary *Wouldn’t It Be Nice* put me back on this classic album.
My top 3 songs are :
1°/ I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
2°/ God Only Knows
3°/ Caroline,No
This is the perfect project to really dive into alternative music—once and for all. A chaotic atmosphere, distorted samples, and completely disjointed instrumentals on this. Insane
A soothing listen—I have to admit, it was well worth the time. Loved "Jesus, Etc.", Ashes Of American Flags" and "Reservations".

The final line from the 14th track of “Mr. Morale And The Big Steppers" titled “ Saviour,” knows how to summarize the approach that Kendrick adopted on this album: a solemn statement - yet a strong reminder to the average fan that public figures are only human, and as a result, must be considered as such by anyone.

New Zealand singer Aldous Harding makes a long-awaited comeback after a four-year hiatus with her fifth opus, "Train on the Island", a ten-track record that cements her position as one of the most prominent artists in folk music; a heavenly voice wrapped up in an undulating sound. Great orchestration on those 10 tracks. I really appreciated the solo harp part on the 8th track, "What Am I Gonna Do". Vocal ... read more

Those could be the words that come to mind when describing the turning point in Canadian singer The Weeknd’s career in late 2015. The Weeknd's fifth album would bring a 4-year run of albums to an end, reinforcing his place as a prominent figure in the R&B industry, as a singer and as a hitmaker.
