I liked a lot about this album and songs like "remember the time", "who is it" and "give into me" and even the sappy ballad "heal the world" are among Jackson's best... but the rest of these songs are so poorly mixed and a shell of the amazing experimentation found on Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation"... which i'd rather be listening to anytime i put this on. closest thing to a holy book that i've ever worshipped. uplifting, jaw dropping, made of love. the magnum opus of a musical genius with limitless potential and endless affection for his craft. this album is genuinely unfathomable and the fact that this collection of songs is only a fraction of what was made is equally mind blowing. this album sounds SO good. like ive never quite heard an album that sounds nearly as flawless as this. the songs feel so open and yet incredibly intimate. as the first move towards the progressive soul/funk/jazz of future projects, "Music of My Mind" creates a foundation for everything that comes next and could only be the work of the musical prodigy mastermind that is Stevie Wonder. this album fucks.

a lot of this production feels really ahead of it's time and res is such a personable songwriter. the first 3 tracks to outshine the rest of the tracklist for me because like.. theyre incredible but the album still manages to be a rewarding listen.
