"I got my eyes open"
IGOR is an album that I consider special to me, as it opened my mind to hip-hop back when I used to be the "I don't really listen to rap besides Eminem" type of white guy.
This isn't just a hip-hop record. It's a fusion of multiple genres, from R&B, through neo-soul or funk, giving Tyler far more space to experiment in his instrumentation, making some of his best work as a producer. It utilizes lo-fi production for it's ... read more
So after Love Is Not Enough, I would've expected we'd have to wait 2-5 years for a new album. Turns out it took only 4 months. So at first my assumption was that I'd would just be a b-side album. That is, however, not true, and as opposed to the last album, which was Converge creating a record in style of their older works, this one goes in a slightly more adventurous direction, taking from post-hardcore and creating a more melodic sound than, say, Love Is Not Enough or Jane Doe. ... read more
A really solid album, easily the best one since the band's second album all the way back in 2006. Amy's vocals are as great as ever, especially on the track Afterlife, which is my personal favourite on the album, giving me strong Going Under vibes. The now classic 2000's rock style alternative rock riffs are here as well.
With this album, Evanescence joins the list of many 2000's bands that are currently living through a renesaince.

Really boring, it's like they can't even be bothered anymore.
Favorite track: The Dry Wells of Hell
Alter Bridge's "Alter Bridge" is exactly what an AB record should be - a collection of hard rock tracks you would play in your car or in the gym. They're not here to change the rock music landscape, but they don't really need to. A couple bangers is all we need from them.
Favorite track: Silent Divide
I really like how this album balances the melodic parts, and the heavy parts, sounding angry at all times. The riffs are great, and I think Sam's vocals sound incredible on this one. A couple of tracks will definitely join my rotation, like Naysayer, C.A.N.C.E.R., or Dead Man Talking. Gotta be one of my favorite metalcore albums.
