An encapsulation of the life and genius of one of the greatest producers to ever do it.
Edit: (100 -> 92): As much as I adore this album and J Dilla as a producer I hate to admit I don't thinks it's quite a 10. Overtime I just don't come back to it enough and get quite that level of enjoyment from it. To be clear, this thing still slaps. Songs like Workinonit, Time: The Donut of the Heart, Light Works, Don't Cry, Last Donut of the Night, etc. are some of the best hip-hop instrumentals Of All Time. JD's creativity and style of beyond words. But I would also say there are a few weak points on the record such as The Factory. I love this album and everything it represents about J Dilla and the story behind it is one of the most heartbreaking in music. Overall it's a Low to Medium 9 for me.
