Kagami Smile - Shared Dream
55

Of the hour and thirty minute run time I only enjoyed a couple tracks totaling in less than 16 minutes. It's steady uninteresting ambience throughout as is pretty standard for what I am familiar with from this artist. But I am dedicated in listening to everything they have to offer. At least I got a little out of this album.

Recs:
- Evolving Light
- Part of You

Kagami Smile - Escaped the Self/ Void of Self
70

It's been a while since I listened to a KS album and it may be because of the absence I found this ambient album a lot more appealing than a lot of their previous efforts despite having a damn similar composition. Hey if you can keep me engaged throughout a more than thirty minute track then you are doing something right. Hopefully this marks me having a fonder view of their efforts as I still got plenty of albums until I catch up.

Sofie Birch - Holotropica

Sometimes I give my past self who was dismissive of the ambient genre calling it boring a puzzled look. This shit is so gentle, healing, and ethereal.

Say Lou Lou - Lucid Dreaming
70

With some strong production and nice voices Say Lou Lou provides a good listening experience with Lucid Dreaming. While generally good I found a few tracks more notable than the solid standard. Overall good stuff.

Recs:
- Glitter
- Julian
- Peppermint
- Hard For a Man

柏大輔 [Daisuke Kashiwa] - April.#02
80

The three track run of april.#02, airdrop, and deep blue are some fantastic IDM tracks that had me entranced the entire time. Everything else is ok to solid but the three tracks alone are more than enough to call this album a great one!

The Flying Lizards - The Flying Lizards
60

The Flying Lizards self titled release is an experimental new wave post punk audio journey that isn't afraid to express itself. While only a few songs connected enough for me to want to revisit them, I found the overall experience a worthwhile one.

Recs:
- Her Story
- Money
- Events During the Flood

David Bowie - Let's Dance
55

I realized that I haven't listened to a Bowie album in nearly a year at this point and I want to fix that. So let's see ol David turn into a dancing blonde to New Wave Dance Pop. And because I usually handicap my listening experience by ignoring lyrics I will actually pay closer attention for this album.
So let's not dilly dally and get right into it!

Paul McCartney - Press to Play
55

Yeah this isn't the most exciting McCartney album in the world, but it's very listenable even if you won't be remembering anything out of it. Production is well done, and Paul is good as always, it just could be less generic. It's ok but could be more engaging.

Shygirl - Club Shy
50

I guess I am not in a party mood. It's club music but I am not feeling it. But don't let this party pooper ruin the fun. I don't even like parties generally anyways

kiyosumi - parasite, empty promises

Some solid DnB nice atmosphere and vibe to it.

Recs:
- A Disappointing Conclusion
- Empty Look In Your Eyes
- Ghost of a Bitter Memory

Tom Tom Club - Tom Tom Club
70

Some fun inventive New Wave with a track that I am sure you have heard before but couldn't name if you're not already familiar with it. I'm talking about "Genius of Love" and it's so surprising just how forward thinking and ahead of it's time that song really is. There's a few other tracks that's just as fascinating and are well worth your time. All in all a pretty damn good LP with some truly fascinating stuff happening within.

Freddie Mercury - Mr. Bad Guy
60

Not bad. Got some stand out tracks that highlights Freddie's talents and the production is stronger than the standard 80's pop rock that is all over this album. Could be more consistent and impactful for a legendary artist's output but I am not going to complain.

Recs:

I have heard parts of songs from Sabrina in the wild as her singles have blown up. With me checking out this album out of curiosity of what all the hoopla is about and I got about what I expected from a new mainstream pop artist. Don't get me wrong everything here is completely listenable but it doesn't evoke much emotion and interest out of me. Sure take me half a decade in the past ... read more

Rare Earth - Ma

Yo I would love to hear this album live. A jam session like this seems like great time to experience with my own eyes and ears. The guys soulful voice along with the jazzy funky with a spice of rock instrumental is just so easy to enjoy. I had a great time with this one. Also the cover art is just fantastic, would love to have a poster of it.

Blood Tower - Our Earth Would Be A Nightmare
85

I do not review enough atmospheric dungeon synth.

Blood Tower does it again! Every release is more immersive than the last and my GOODNESS is this an audio trip and a half! It goes from nostalgic and whimsical to straight up TERRIFYING and I love it so damn much! I listen to a lot of this kind of things but I swear no one does quite like Blood Tower's recent output! Putting the spirit in spiritual Jazz.

From astrology to meditatively raising your consciousness this mind expanding release is an absolute pleasure for the ears to enjoy. Makes you want to open your third eye to see the full picture and be grateful for all that this unique experience of life has to offer while you are still of this realm. It may not be as effective as I would have liked, but this colorful and fun at times release is well worth your time! Good stuff for Emma-Jean's first ... read more

Thanks @Sandamdeep for letting me know about your album.

That intro, interlude, and outro do be hitting that spot. Can't say the same for the first part of the album with its disjointedness. There's a lot of interesting ideas happening production wise but the rapping take me out of it. But once we hit the interlude the album does hit it's stride and it's a smoother experience from then on. The production remains engaging and the rapping flows with the music better this ... read more

"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
