mörte - Die Beute

Thanks for the recommendation @paiirs

After looking at other reviews I have learned that this album is your work. And it's of a genre sphere that ever since I discovered it last October have been completely obsessed with. That being Dungeon Synth, Dark Ambient, field recordings and the like. They always immerse me into a dark dreary yet magical medieval fairy tale that is always great to return to end explore the possibilities of the world I imagine just a bit further. Shit like this is ... read more

Thank you @Snoozeybro for letting me know about your little single!

I am always so impressed by your confidence and flow when you rap. You are damn good at this. That may be the highlight of the track and everything that I have been exposed this far from your work, but I am going to need more than a good rapper to have this admiration last longer than a few impressionable listens. If you want this to be a long term deal you need to evolve, grow, and experiment to keep your outputs fresh and ... read more

Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
95

Cocteau Twins caught their magical stride once more with Blue Bell Knoll, and somehow enhanced the ethereal dreamscape to new heights with what's considered by many to be their Magnum Opus Heaven or Las Vegas.

This shit is just otherworldly I don't know what say. The twins may not have always hit for me but when they do there's nothing quite like it. I am debating whether I consider this as my favorite album of theirs or their Earth shattering release "Treasure" from ... read more

Angelo Badalamenti - Soundtrack from Twin Peaks
100

I have never seen Twin peaks and maybe after listening to the soundtrack, I may have to fix that sonnet rather than later.

What a gorgeous haunting atmospheric soundtrack that immersed you into its world and refuses to let you go even for a moment. From the jazzy Audrey's Dance to the beautiful Nightingale all the way to the closer and everything in between not to forget the fantastic opening tracks that immediately set the mood for the experience to come. Top to bottom front to back this ... read more

Depeche Mode - Violator

Synthpop but just a bit gloomier for those kind of nights.

I am so into this vibe that is all over this album. It's festive, but not necessarily joyful. The production is addictively great and that voice is made for this vibe! This is easily my favorite Depeche Mode album so far I love so much of what it's offering! It switches things up at "Blue Dress" to keep the intrigue and freshness up to par. Then finishes off with a stunning conclusion with "Clean" The ... read more

Thrash Rock.

After all of the fast heavy and crazy ass thrash I have been exposed to, this album really does seem like a soft gateway album for those who are hesitant on the genre. And while I can see the appeal it just doesn't hit hard enough for me. I'm in too deep to appreciate this as much as I would have liked. But when I started viewing it as more of a rock album I really was warming up to what's being offered. There's still a good amount of fun and engaging tracks ... read more

Judas Priest - Painkiller

It been over a year since I first listened to Sad Wings of Destiny. Which is honestly crazy since I distinctly remember listening to it as it really was amongst the albums that warmed me up to classic metal. I have listened to so much metal of different varieties since, and I have enjoyed whenever I had the pleasure of listening to yet another album from my favorite classic metal band. Now after listening Painkiller I am happy to report they still haven't fallen behind. Even amongst the ... read more

Primus - Frizzle Fry

Silly, goofy, charming, yet sharp, focused and impactful. The phenomenal instrumental combined with the goofy voice and non seriousness of the lyrics at times is such a cool dynamic. It's funky fun and still has a metal punch to it as well. Had a good time with several tracks though some didn't land as I would have liked. Still Primus has quite the unique dynamic going on and I can't say that I am not into it.

Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet

Overutilization of panning, some pacing kinks need to be worked out, the samples aren't connecting as I would have liked them to. It may be the only PE album I have listened to, but the voices and cadence of these chaps seem a bit too familiar to be as interesting as their first album. I got a general disconnect with how it's sonically presented though the messaging remains engaging. But to me I am usually listening to music first and am paying attention to the lyrics second. So my ... read more

Entombed - Left Hand Path

If only this album was as cool to listen to as the album art is to look at. Unlike the complex and interesting to engage with cover art the music is pretty flat and uninteresting, the vocals don't vary much at all. The only part I liked was the later part of the title track since it was something different for me to chew on. Even then it isn't enough to up my score. Pretty disappointing stuff.

Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss

Stuff is certainly happening, and they are doing a lot of it, I just don't find much appeal or connect with it personally. It's just so basic and uninteresting to me.

Soda Stereo - Canción Animal

A wavy piece of metal, a ball made of toothpicks, and a pair of lions fucking. I know what I will be voting as my favorite album cover for 1990.

While the album cover may be great, the alternative rock within is solid for what is is generally with a few tracks being standouts giving reason to check it out beyond the eye catching cover. It's decent to solid overall, could be more memorable, but not bad.

Dope

I mean the music speaks for itself. The production and sampling is fantastic, the rhymes and flows are just as great. Shit's just very enjoyable to listen to. Feels old school but ages REALLY well and can still be enjoyed by modern hip hop fans. It funky, smooth, satisfying, engaging, and again fun. If you for whatever reason haven't given this classic a spin then take this review as an excuse to do so.

Its a decent Spanish synth pop record that has some standout tracks but generally keeps things pretty safe and uninteresting. Not bad overall though.

The Sundays - Reading, Writing and Arithmetic

It's an ok dream/Jangle pop release with solid instrumental and a pretty female voice. Nothing that gets me all that interested but I found a couple tracks notable enough.

Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death

The production is tedious and the voice ain't got me but for the vast majority of the time I don't connect with thrash in general so this doesn't come as a surprise as the genre is not for me generally.

Lady Gaga - Die With A Smile

What a blessed day to have two of my childhood icons collaborate what did I do to deserve this blessing?

As always Bruno Mars is fucking amazing could listen to this man sing all day long and I could never tire of him. I needed new music from this guy yesterday but hearing his voice once more just brings tears to my eyes. It's always a pleasure to have Gaga herself release any kind of music she's just as amazing as Bruno. I swear whenever either one of these artists drops ANYTHING ... read more

"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
