Pale Saints - The Comforts of Madness

I can see why people love Shoegaze, but in my limited experience of the genre so far, I have mostly found it pretty uninteresting.

Happy Mondays - Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches

I liked Loose fit well enough but this album just did not connect for me.

Kane Parsons - It’s All Happening

Kane Parsons, also known as Kane Pixels, also known as the backrooms guy that made the viral video a couple years back. They are a damn promising young director that is currently working on a whole ass backrooms movie, which I am highly excited to see whenever it comes out. He also makes music of mostly the ambient genre. And he's really good at it. I am a big fan of his soundtrack for the backrooms series and I am a big fan of the many other ... read more

Wolf and Raven does it again with some fun synthwave, epic guitar solos, and just good vibes. It really does feel like you are racing along on a futuristic motorcycle with your waifu. I honestly don't have much to say about this album other than it's very good and has the 80's nostalgia with a modern coat of paint. I have been a big fan of W&R since I discovered their EP "Lap of Luxury" and if you by chance have ... read more

Unpopular opinion but I have always enjoyed this album and think it's amongst the better releases that Slipknot have provided to this point. Is there some cheesiness, sure. But this band has ALWAYS been a bit cheesy in some way or another. It's just part of who they are and I am not going to fault them too much for what is part of the appeal. ( To a point. More on that later.)This also has some of my absolute favorite tracks of Slipknot ... read more

The pandemic lockdowns were a troubling time for many of us. But not for me. I was MORE than happy to forget the world collapsing around me and the impending adult responsibilities coming ahead. I was 20 years old I only had so much youth left in me. ( I still feel young and vigorous, I just probably need to start stretching sooner rather than later. Got a stiff neck and some days my lower back and knee likes to complain. But I see teenagers say ... read more

If this song doesn't strike you at the very core then this review isn't for you. If it has, then buckle up.

Well, well, well. Look at where little o'l me has stumbled upon. A thousand internet strangers volunteered to my page and decided for whatever reason to click on that follow button.

This has been a milestone that has been a goal of mine since I first made that Faust review back in early May of last year. Over 1200 reviews and tens of thousands of tracks listened to later the fateful day has arrived. And when I woke up this morning to see ... read more

Sinéad O'Connor - I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got
60

This album didn't grab my attention til the big hit "Nothing Compares 2 U" which was surprisingly the first time I listened to the full song. And now that I have, I get why it got so big. It's quite the song. From that point onwards I was more impressed with what I was provided from songs with actual energy to them, to the mesmerizingly minimal finale. If the overall album was as full of life as the second half, then I am certain that I would have better perception of the ... read more

Lustmord - Heresy

Always love myself some dark foreboding ambience. While I find value in each of the tracks only the second one truly fit my fancy in any significant way.

Anthrax - Persistence of Time
50

Sigh...

Yeah I thought I was starting the appeal of Thrash Metal and Anthax's "Among the Living" was part of the group of albums in this genre that led to this thinking. But then I listen to this album from them and it just isn't rousing much of anything for me. They are skilled and all but I can't bring myself to care in the slightest.

60

Well then.....

That's certainly a way to introduce me to the 90s. Just pure chaos with jazz, metal, incoherent screaming and rambling, and I am just flabbergasted by all that's slamming into my eardrums. A lot is happening here and you just need to listen for yourself to truly get what I mean. It's something alright, and I just don't know what to make of it. Just when I thought I heard it all. Strangest of all I was kinda warming up to it as it went along. This is what ... read more

j1nabae - MIDNIGHT CLUB

Hey babe. Wanna join me tonight at the midnight club where the nostalgia suffocates and the vibes shuts off all the voices in your head even for just a little while? Yeah its a dance club and yeah shits pretty fun to groove too as well. It's quite the cool juxtaposition they got going on and the aesthetic is just on point all night long. Sure why not? Great. I got a reservation for us two tonight, prepare for the night of your dreams that you ain't never going to forget.

MARINA - Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land

Ok WOW did I really connect with the last half of this album. I just got SO sucked into the lyrics and the stories they are telling. So much so that I am going to listen through again and give my thoughts for each song and actually pay attention to the lyrics on the first half of the album to see if I missed anything as I was focusing more on how I was connecting with the melodies and production.

I'm so ready to get my thoughts out on this album. But before that I will give my overall ... read more

On Black Sabbath - Paranoid
"@frogofprog of course, all the songs listed in the review are great including the all time classic in War Pigs. I just think as an album experience as a whole it could be a bit better."

"You are in for one hell of a ride if you're going to listen to it all the way through at once! Well worth the six hours of investment."
On Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
"@ScottShelby As for what's next for Zappa since I have listened to most of his Acclaimed stuff besides a couple of TMOI releases In likely to finish off that bands offerings before down the road see what Zappa has to offer in his more contentious releases."
On Frank Zappa - Hot Rats

"@musicfanboy You looked into that more than I ever cared to so I guess? I don't know. I do generally find slowcore rather boring to slog through, so your probably right."
On Terry Reid - Terry Reid
"@AidenBowe45 He reminds of Paul McCartney at points with how passionately he sings and the instrumental goes crazy. It's a fun album for sure!"
On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."
On Herbie Hancock - Fat Albert Rotunda
"@AidenBowe45 Groovy, funky and takes you on a ride. I don't remember if it goes wildly off the track but I wouldn't be surprised if it did with an artist like Hancock at the wheel."

On Amon Düül II - Phallus Dei
"@AidenBowe45 I'm excited for whenever you do decide to listen to it, they put you on a wild ride that's the best of both worlds and reminds me why I regard Krautrock as one of my all time favorite genres to lose my mind to!"
On Eyeliner - Buy Now
"@AidenBowe45 I mean it's not the definitive vaporwave experience, but if you're a fan of the genre then there's definitely some solid stuff here."
On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor You mentioned that across the board I have wild takes, are there more recent examples that raises your eyebrows?"
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."
On Drake - Scorpion
"@Triplo Thanks! I don't often have something to say about an album these days past a standard passing observation, but popular releases from the 2010s are a good way to get be talking at least a little bit."
On Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel
"@RSmithFan What I meant was that this was the first album that felt like it was made in the eighties. Don't know why I phrased it that way either."
On Not Marshall - FRIDAY NIGHT A DRESS2IMPRESS MODEL HAS TO SHOW OFF HER NEW AFRO HAIRSTYLE
"@engar where? what? I don't see anything eyebrow raising."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
