A combination of black and death metal which incorporates the best of both worlds. Extremely powerful vocals as Jon delivers some chilling performances. A massive landmark in melodic death/black metal and an essential when it comes to extreme metal.
Incredibly brutal vocals which dont even sound human and bass playing which is highly technical and crushing whilst melodic and groovy guitar playing is highly engaging and rotten. Just brutal nothing else can be said. A foundation for brutal death metal and an iconic album
Heavy, nasty, vile everything cannibal corpse aim to achieve is perfectly demonstrated here, would have been interesting to see what the future would have held if Chris Barnes remained vocalist. However, with hindsight a clear decline in his vocal capabilities is clear on this album, despite this it adds to the nasty grimy sound of this album
Very heavy, slow paced but never boring. As Jus Osborn said in many interviews this album is truly hateful and filled with drugged out melodies. A very interesting album unrelenting and a incredible experience. This perfectly sums up Electric Wizard as a band
Raw and aggressive for a largely mainstream record, the peak of cobains song writing, very blown out whilst remaining raw and emotional. A very complicated album especially knowing the history and symbolism surrounding most of the tracks, with extremely high peaks and only one or two average tracks.
