I needed to listen to an album to cheer me up a bit this week and relistening to Pet Sounds was definitely the answer. This album was so influential for its time but it still has such an impact on me even today. Those haunting harmonies that modulate chords - it's an ethereal experience listening to this album. Starting from the classic Cadbury ad 'Wouldn't It Be Nice' (if the world was made of chocolate) to the retelling of 'Sloop John B' with such melancholy ... read more
I fear I am madly in love with Underscores! My Instagram feed is just full of videos of her being and I'm not complaining. Also move over Alysia Liu striped hair because I aspire to have April's headphone hair clip on. This is kind of the best album to listen to the one time I go to a shopping centre per year and immediately get overstimulated.
Favourite songs: Tell Me (U Want It), Lovefield

Growing up my family would listen to their first two albums on CD over and over again ; my brother has a 2D tattoo on his arm, and yes maybe I am one of few people who likes Humanz. How can you not bop along to these laid-back groovy ass tunes! I had O Tengo Suerte on a playlist for months and neglected to listen to the rest of this masterpiece. Masayoshi is coming to Melbourne next month and I think it will be a disservice for me to not see this legendary guitarist do his thing at 73 years old! My favourite song is トーキョー レギー. The echoey vocals pair so well with Masayoshi's tight playing and the strings.
I forgot just how good this album was until I relistened to it. Starting with 'Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) sets the stage for the usual upbeat Billy Joel style but then he gives us 'Just the Way You Are', 'Scenes of an Italian Restaurant' and 'Vienna' right after each other and you remember why he is such a masterful songwriter and lyricist. This album means the world to me. Nothing will ever beat me.
