This album is a bittersweet collection of stories that are very hard to pin down. I've come to understand that it mainly explores the life of Anne Frank and deals with themes of sexuality and death. The high points of this album with Holland, 1945 and the title track are some of my favorite songs of all time. The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One, Communist Daughter, and Two-Headed Boy are also worth the mention. Magnum's passionate melodies and lyrics exploring war and innocence gives ... read more
I really enjoyed this album a lot. It was jazzy, sweet, and most of all deeply honest and at times vulnerable. I really felt I got to know Laufey on a personal level through this album. The instrumentation was great with a good blend of simple acoustic guitar or piano based songs and pieces with full on symphonies. There are great storytelling and concepts behind these songs, and Laufey often pays tribute to her classical roots. This was spectacular.

The story behind this song is one to remember. Sonically amazing, melancholic, and maximalist. The inclusion of Love Me Do makes this the perfect ending for the band.

The definition of a "mixed bag". You have Blackbird, Helter Skelter, and everything in between thrown onto this incredible, lengthy double LP. The first LP contains some of The Beatles' finest work with my personal favorite song of theirs and of all time, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and other great tracks like Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Rocky Raccoon, and Glass Onion. The second LP has some duller tracks and is without a doubt weaker than the first disc. The obvious standout is Helter ... read more
