In Bambi, Hippo Campus takes a much more personal, downbeat approach as a change of pace for the followup to the light-hearted, dreamlike debut: Landmark. I respect that they're experimenting more, and I think they pulled it off quite well for the most part.
With only 10 tracks, a consistent sound, and nice transitions, this album goes by as smoothly as it does quickly.

Emotionally powerful and enthralling; A must hear. With an underlying theme of inevitable aging and death (in songs such as "Step" and "Don't Lie") and the search for a solution and ways to cope, ("Hannah Hunt", "Everlasting Arms") accompanied by beautiful, sincere vocals over melancholic yet fun instrumentals, this is an album that everyone can relate to and get something from.
