Milotn Nascimiento, reflecting on the dictatorship that had plagued him and his country, guides his listeners on a beautifully emotional, atmospheric, and spiritual descent, constructing at the same time a statement against the status quo in many latin american countries during the 20th century.
On Green Street, Grant Green effortlessly intertwines bluesy phrasing with soulful melodies and his characteristic bebop style. I really enjoyed the sparse and minimal instrumentation, in particular because it brings bring Green’s talent and skill as a guitarist to the fore. Whilst not as well known or as critically acclaimed as Time Out, Brubeck here presents a listening experience and overall album that is just as good.
