Tender, relaxing, soft ; everything doesn't aim for much and that's what makes it so good.
Japanese Breakfast develops a beautiful airy sound on this album, made up by exceptional harmonies, a fairy voice that seems to surf on always charming melodies, and a reassuring sound that makes everything seem like a summer day.
favs : Posing for cars, paprika, kokomo IN
Really fun, with beautiful instrumentation and lyrics that just stick with you.
favs : if you're feeling sinister, the stars of track & field, me and the major
all the songs are great, but they all sound the same ; and the songwriting isn't as good as in Norman fucking rockwell in which it made up for that. Still great
Experimenting with 70s sound, St. vincent reinvents herself once again ; while keeping the confidence of her last record but adding more gorgeous (and catchy) melodies, more emotional tracks and way better crafted concept. The album is cohesive, never boring, and just a blast to get through.
favs : live in the dream, my baby wants a baby, pay your way in pain
this record is a stunning work of Black-american culture, that resonnates with me a lot because of its unapologetic blackness and the messages of self-acceptation put to the front of the music. Solange's voice is absolutely heavenly and the arrengement are perfect.
favs : cranes in the sky, weary, F.U.B.U, mad
Through disco landscapes and immaculate basslines, this record celebrates beautifully Love in all its forms. Incredible.
the songwriting is really good, the highs are very high ; the instrumentation is nicer than on either/or but this is soooo bloated
it's just good vibes with Sophie production, what is there to not like ?
How is it allowed to write songs this good all the time ? Litteraly no bad songs
only rating the original tracks
Not a lot to say but yeah it's pretty nice, even if I found it really basic for its runtime
