Painting by the numbers, standard verse, chorus, verse, chorus, breakdown song structure that's getting really tiring at this point. As usual they are very good at writing kickass riffs for the verses and then completely ruin the energy of the song with an unnecessary awkward clean chorus. It's technically impressive but nothing new, I hope they change things up a bit on the next album.
nothing new or exciting from the band, just the same sterile shoegaze infused alternative metal they've been doing for nearly 3 decades. completely lacking in emotion, new ideas, or even just decent sounding songs. most of the album isn't bad per se, but it's certainly not good either.
It's insane that they still got it after all these years, these guys in their 60s really just released an album out of nowhere that's better than most modern bands at their prime. The lyrics, vocals and instrumentals put together create such a potent emotional experience, I cried several times on my first listen and I still tear up a little on a couple of songs. The production can be a bit overbearing at times, but it creates such a claustrophobic and suffocating feeling that really ... read more
95 + 5 for track 7 specifically, it's one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard and i'm so sad i'll never hear it for the first time again
Came into this expecting to like it, I didn't expect that after just a few listens it would become my favorite album of the year. Explosive production, incredibly catchy choruses, emotional vocal delivery and lyrics that speak right into the soul of my inner 14 year old, what's not to love?
a bit weaker than the first single, the vocals don't really fit the instrumental but the instrumental itself is great
very disappointing, starts off ok but it really drops off by the second half. overproduced with cringy edgy lyrics, the genre fusions don't really work and end up just sounding like parodies. how did they fall off so much since survival horror
Very mid black metal project, simultaneously overproduced and without any punch, the electronic elements don't add anything exciting to the mix. This is what I imagine radio black metal would sound like.
Sadly besides a few standout tracks the album feels pretty samey and bland, often I couldn't even tell if a song had ended and the next one started, and not because the album flows seamlessly. The second half is especially weak.
Honestly surprised it took this long for a member of this band to get arrested for murder
