Angel Olsen - MY WOMAN
90

A whole and complete album. One of the most captivating albums of the year. What a voice!

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
99

A peasant turned King. It might be getting time to turn over the keys to the "throne" with Jay Z no where to be seen and Kanye seeming to be slipping in quality.
This album has been in my car's 6 CD holder since the day it came out, and doesn't seem to be coming out anytime soon.

This album has its ups and downs, and when its down its its terrible. What is sad is the fact that if the filler and crap was removed there is a pretty good album still left. Ultralight Beam is great and Chance shines. Father Stretch My Hands pt. 1, Famous, waves, real friends, and waves are decent. Kendrick's excellence forces Kanye to return to a "throne" quality performance on No More Parties in LA. In my opinion it is the best Kanye track we have recieved since MBTDF.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Getaway
67

A decent release. Without a doubt heavily relying on the great single "Dark Necessities." In that one song RHCP returned to their old form and still progressed their sound. Then for the rest of the album it is about 80% filler.

Anderson .Paak - Malibu
90

An artist that was able to catch Dr. Dre's attention did not disappoint. This is an album that has a bit of a lot of things where genre is concerned. Anderson .Paak's voice is very emotional, and it is highlighted perfectly in my personal favorite track "Silicon Valley." This album will be putting up a great fight for my personal AOFY.

Wolfmother - Victorious

Not a flop, but very close. There are a handful of redeeming moments on the album, but not enough.

Fitz & the Tantrums - Fitz & the Tantrums
32

I looked for a redeeming quality in this album, and came up dry.

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
89

A great album! Hard to listen to, but not in a negative way. This is an album where you need to be alone with your headphones and be able to just close your eyes for about an hour. It is also a very emotional ride.

Beyoncé - Lemonade
76

I liked it, but clearly not as much as everyone else

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 2
97

Better than its predecessor, and that is saying a lot. This is an album that has been on replay since I discovered it.

Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered.

An artist at the top of his game. He is able to release an album filled with B,C, and D sides, yet it is still has a good chance at contending for a Grammy. I was not a major fan of some of the things in the album that disconnect the listener from the music and attempt to show them a piece of the person Kendrick Lamar is. With that being said, this is Kendrick giving us his Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. He didn't owe us a damn thing so he is doing what he wants and he is having a damn good time doing ... read more

Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book

There are some low points on this album, such as Kanye's part in All We Got (and I'm a Kanye fan). I basically always skip that first song when I am listening. However, he is somehow able to make Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz decent on No Problem. This album is no Acid Rap in form or in some cases quality, yet it still shines. The single Angels is the pinnacle of Chance's library to this point. Then the album has songs like Juke Jam, Blessings, and How Great that add verity and pop appeal. My personal ... read more
