From an objective standpoint, this album is top tier. However it is not at all something I would listen to again. Hear me out.
I listed to the album with little knowledge going into it after only hearing a couple of their previous songs, neither of which appealed to me very much. When listening to Hellfire, I was immediately able to recognize the insanely high quality of the production, but that’s about all. I knew how highly praised it was and decided to do some digging and found out the unique and well-told story behind each song. I get why people love it, and I get why it’s so highly rated. But it’s just not really something I see any replay value in. To me, it’s like a death defying circus act that blew me away when I saw it happen, but then the recording I took of it just sat in my camera roll never to be looked at again. Whether or not that devalues the art in any way is up for interpretation, but to me I think that’s fairly relevant when talking about music.
It did leave my undies wet, though
