Kehlani uses skits, sexy vibes, and confident affirmations to paint her versatility as a lover and person. "Get Like" shows her magnetic attraction that she has with her lover who brings out a different, sweet side that she enjoys. "Too Much" embraces the idea that she may be too much for others but will always be enough for herself. There are several gems on this album. Kehlani ... read more

This is still one of my favorite chill, breakup albums. Gnash does very well with acceptance and closure of his past relationship(s) and this is shown through this album. He reflects on the high points (explaining that he still dreams of her in "daydreams") and the low points (unreciprocated feelings in "feelings fade"). This is perfect for right after a tumultuous breakup when ... read more

The Queen of Sadness returns to the throne with dreamy vocals and hazy instrumentals. Lana Del Rey is not afraid to expose her mistakes and dysfunction in a relationship that adds a certain level of complexity to her albums. The sequel of the "Crybaby Chronicles" explains the traumatic and torturous experiences of Crybaby at her abusive and dysfunctional school. Each song tells a story yet adds to the overall development of Crybaby's escape from this setting. Melanie connects the school to modern society all throughout the album. For example, the introductory song "Wheels On The Bus" uses this title ... read more

This album had great, catchy singles that celebrated female empowerment and sexuality. "Rules" catches your attention by setting sexual guidelines with fast flows and infectious rhythm. Doja Cat helps to make women feel more free by normalizing and placing power in the word "pussy." Overall, Doja Cat further proves that she is unafraid to express and assert her sexual confidence.

Lorde - Pure Heroine
99

One of the best coming-of-age albums that I’ve heard. It kept me going through high school. Lorde’s somber and reflective voice/themes were the soundtrack for that transition from high school to the real world. This is the kind of album that you drive around with when you’re in a serious mood.
