WAIT IS THAT THE SAME BASSLINE THAT'S ALSO ON GIVE EM HELL KID BY MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
I didn't really know what to expect from this album. Upon hearing the first couple of songs, I thought it would be an easygoing and adolescent listen with bits of shoegaze and indie rock combined. However, when *Desire Lines* comes on, my expectations were pretty blown away from how dark and dreary the band can be. From there on, we get even more gloomy and tense songs that I very much enjoyed, with even some material reminding me of The Cure levels of bitterness. I really liked how the album could become playful and somber at different points, as it was interesting to see.
The songwriting can get a bit unoriginal and plain at times though. I think I would've loved to see a lot more creative and intense ways the band could've gotten with their sound, as it stays a bit safe most of the time even when getting dark. Nonetheless, I think it's a good record with some surprisingly tragic moments.
