On paper, this album is right up my alley, with melancholic acoustics and multi-tracked vocals that are an obvious nod to Elliott Smith, in addition to moments that sound like they were pulled right off of the recent My New Band Believe album. The track, “Love is in the air,” is the most haunting piece of music in a film I’ve ever heard, with its ability to be romantic-sounding on its face but…. Feeling like something is not quite right. As you get to know the characters, you’re so hopeful that there will be a happy ending, but there’s this inexplicable sinking feeling that that’s not going to be the case.
