I'm not sure she's capable of writing great songs anymore. Her lyrics are unemotional, unfunny, and only seem to come from a place of delusion. She sings every song doing a Lana Del Rey impression, which is something she has been doing since Midnights, but I can't seem to get over it because the melodies she locks into almost never match the Max Martin nonsense. My mind is swirling. A great change of pace from their last album

Revisited this after listening to the Quadeca because they're both in that "maximalist" vein. All of these songs have a tune buried beneath that I get the choice to view. Yes there are "extra" sounds, but to me it feels like they're servicing the tune in a meaningful way. Especially love the video game noises. Gimmick and all.

A problem with the 2025 version of the concept album is that it is not considering the tune. When we're going back to the original big concept and highly thematic albums from the 20th century, like In the Aeroplane Over the Sea or Dark Side of the Moon, the individual songs are able to stand completely on their own and allow for that higher meaning to shine through.
