Vylet Pony - Love & Ponystep

Really same-y and I found it boring. Filled with nostalgia for an era the target audience wasn't alive for. Largely inoffensive to me but couldn't vibe with it or find any reason for it to last longer than a Harold and Kumar movie.

James Bay - Chaos and the Calm

Something inside me prevented me from fully engaging with it. This is like drinking a soda that glows in the dark and you know there's something evil in there but you kind of like it.
Like the entire time my body had an alarm going off that was detecting someone trying to sell me something. Just some kind of inauthentic vibe that I can't quite explain.
But it's fine. Just can't shake the car commercial "great deals going on near you now during our clearance event" ... read more

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular

What a fucking phenomenal 5 song run this album starts off on. Worst thing I can say about it (other than I would potentially redo the track listing?) is that after "Kids" it tapers off, going from "this may be a top 20 album ever" to "yeah this is just a really fucking great album" but man.. What a fun listen. A quintessential 2000's listen, I'm shocked by the scores of 75 and 79. It's fun, experimental, has a great energy and is pleasant throughout.

Senses Fail - From the Depths of Dreams

Carried hard by my love for the band. Can tell they have the materials and are just starting to learn how to work with them. Pretty fun to listen to as a fan of what comes next for the group.

Emarosa - Relativity

Dude is singing the fuck out of these songs

Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn

Grew on me. It's fun. Has some really strong moments. It's more consistently enjoyable than I originally gave it credit for. Some songs I could still live without and some lyrics still make me roll my eyes a little but it's just fine. For what it is it's fine.

Men I Trust - Equus Caballus

Boring. Was bored. Could not ride the vibe out. Pretty well made, sonically fine music. Just couldn't care.

Sleep Token - Even in Arcadia

Just interesting enough to be likeable. But the highs aren't as high as they are previously. The heavy parts aren't as heavy. The genre mashing doesn't feel as out of left field. But it's fine-- it's enjoyable but can't help but feel let down considering how much I really enjoyed Sleep Token in the past.

d4vd - WITHERED

If you write songs like this you were bound to end up in hell anyway. Had a lot of promising elements to the music too bad buddy a freak.

Michael Franti & Spearhead - Big Big Love

When this comes on at work I think of hurting myself.

Flobots - Fight with Tools

Pretty unique album by a really cool group. Very funny band to talk about when most people never really listened much beyond the radio hit "Handlebars" which is their most lyrically obtuse song and they are pretty on the nose with every other song they wrote ever. So most people don't know the group is mega progressive and super anti-war and pro-weed and what have you... WOKE by todays standards.. But I digress-- I went to see them play live in 2009 and it was an awesome show, ... read more

Playboi Carti - MUSIC - SORRY 4 DA WAIT

I think this is music that is embarrassing if someone walked in on you listening to. Very shameful stuff. Feels like two versions of the same song. A barely tolerable version and then random completely intolerable versions sprinkled throughout where they whacked out the sliders on FL Studio as high as they'll go rofl. Gun to my head could not tell you a discernible reason why there had to be more than like 7 songs since they all do the same thing; Carti slurs or mumbles the same shit on ... read more

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM

I'm on isle 6. I am browsing a selection of organic vegetables. And I can just hear "Vanish Into You" and "Killah" and the likes being played over the store's PA system only to occasionally be broken up by an employee speaking over the intercom.
The most easily identifiable "I will hear this while shopping some time from now" album I have listened to recently but it isn't bad. Nothing I'm going crazy over but nothing upsetting to listen to. ... read more

SEBii - VVSS2

tldr it's 40 minutes of similes doing word association or referencing a meme or just something in pop culture. Vocals were too grating and shameless to pay attention to anything else. She adjective on my noun til I verb ass lyricism.
Was thinking that if you want to be friends with the least funny person at work you could show them this. But there's just no way anybody with a job would like this.

OK Go - Hungry Ghosts
75

I always think of a tweet a woman made that goes something along the lines of "The worst thing I ever did was laugh in a guys face when he said his favorite band is OK Go. I thought he was joking, I felt so bad."

I loved a handful of their songs back when I was in school. Even though there's plenty stigma about them putting 10,000x more effort into their videos than their music I personally don't hate them for it. I do think musically they're pretty unremarkable most ... read more

Skid Row - Skid Row

"I Remember You" has one of my favorite solos of all time. "18 and Life" is a great song too. A very straight forward no nonsense hair metal sound with some banger ballads.

Kings of Leon - Only By The Night
75

Has some great songs.
I can't imagine this album being anybodies favorite. In fact I could absolutely understand if someone thinks it just sucks. They certainly have a commercial sound and Caleb Followill delivered the exact same fuckin vocal inflection on every single song on this thing. But I just like it; Kings of Leon to me is just distinct enough while also being so easy to consume and not give a shit about. I don't like Little Caesars but optimally this is just what I imagine ... read more

Attila - About That Life

I never found out if this was a parody band.

Kim Gordon - The Collective

The Collective reminds me of when I was a kid and my friends and I would create "potions" in school by combining chocolate milk and grass and cheez-its and whatever gross things we could find during lunchtime. This is like the audio version of that and a certain type of person is pretending it isn't disgusting. For some listeners their jam is dissecting noises that clash with one another and that's tight I mean no offense to them music is for everyone and everyone likes ... read more
