REALLY wish they had this on the album holy fuck dude. At least they gave a story reasoning w/the music video
You can see the elements of what makes slayr great here I just find the mix in this to particularly cut him short of a better album
I'm not gonna sit here and preach like this is a complicated song but what I love about music is that emotions and themes come in so many shapes and sizes, sometimes a song you'd never expect to connect to you that much pierces you in the heart. I was relistening to this song at work today and I started tearing up after my 4th relisten just imagining my life flashing right before my eyes. I gotta wise up dudeeeee
Sometimes an album hits you in a very special place that no others do, this is one of them for me
I’m not sure if this is a great song as a SINGLE but the melodies are incredibly fun and I’m glad Slayr is just continuing to perform rlly well vocally. Can’t wait for the next project!
I listened to this on it’s 10th anniversary (also the day I flew on a plane for the first time!) and it was just such a fun experience
I wouldn’t say Kay’s production is complex by any means, he even said himself this album was him learning from artists he was listening to as he was making stuff on fl studio. I think what makes his production so neat though is his stylization. He has a lot of 80s & 90s drum patterns mixed in with just very cool synths all around for a ... read more
I think shawn genuinely was one of the first people who truly got me into learning how different sounds in music mesh together, always loved his old mashups
It took a while for me to enjoy it but not only is it one of my favorites off the album i actually like this version even more w/o the beat switch
See I just know both Shawn and Fantano will both not lile this but I fw it enough. I think Jack has a voice that needs to be expanded a bit more through vocal inflections and working with a bigger variety of instrumentals, nonetheless I’m not disappointed in this though! I’m sure it’s not what a lot of people expected but please give this a listen
I fw a lot of femtanyl's instrumentals but I find her vocals to just be mad grating I'm sorry. Just out of personal preference I find a lot of voices that do anything experimental to ironically not be *that* experimental at the end of the day. It's not like feelings conveyed on this song aren't the same as a lot of rock songs on the radio (outside of topics of transgenderism) and even with the mix of vocals on the instrumental it's pretty much the same way I feel about ... read more
So I think Shawn Cee asked what was the underground currently bringing to the table after watching the underground cypher and I think this album is what best describes it. I'm not gonna act like I'm a big underground listener at all but I think that a big part of what makes some of the best currently is tapping into what you grew up with. A lot of us (gen-z and alpha for example) were on youtube intros/outros, the big dubstep wave in the early 2010s, etc. I gravitated to a lot of edm ... read more
(Rating for deluxe tracks only, putting scores together itd bring it down to a 65-70)
Really disappointing cause while its not like I expect Aminé to make serious tracks all the time, the bangers on Limbo overall felt like they had a lot of substance regardless. Most of these felt like a recession especially with a song like gelato with such a non chorus and rhyming with pinkety drinkety
Favorties: Talk, Solid
Least favorite: Gelato
I'm sure some people may not like this too much as it's less of what people know danny for and more of a very 90s esc feel with both the q-tip production and the middle rode voice danny decided to go for but MANNNN this is so good! It's not like a boom bap song like this is saturated in his discography so at least for me this combo is such a 1 2 punch its so enjoyable to listen to while having a very positive feel unlike a lot of his older works
