This album takes a more gentle approach to their Dublin indie punk sound. They are more experimental than ever and you can hear remnants of The Cure on tracks like Favourite, which is probably the best track on the album and a great closer. The vocal delivery from Grian on Favourite is just amazing, especially in the chorus where he almost whispers his lines. Also the backing vocals from Connor (bass) are amazing.
The first two songs were kind of 'meh', not too memorable. besides that the rest of the album was great. a refreshing rock album in this modern era of music. I love the cheap amps they got from cash converters. highlights include Raw Feel, Hog Calling Contest, and Le Risque.
Best soundtrack written for a film. Its like a musical where no one breaks into song. the contrast of the luscious strings in the main theme and jarring percussion sounds in songs like Tabla, is genius.
this album is amazing. it is filled with classic whimsical tracks written mainly by Paul, but has its fair share masterpieces such as 'She's Leaving' and 'A Day in the Life'. Highlight tracks for me are: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Getting Better, She's Leaving, Within You Without You, Lovely Rita, and A Day in the Life.
honestly electioneering and the tourist are pretty forgettable. filter happier should've opened or closed the album. but is still one of the greatest albums ever.
