Absolutely stunning. One of the best and most underappreciated hip hop albums of the 2010s
Definitely a lot to love here, especially from the production side of things. The instruments sound incredible and the beats are gorgeously layered - I hope more rappers take influence from this record (and most Gambino albums in general) and start using real acoustic instruments in their music. I don't know. It's another Eilish release that underwhelmes more than it overwhelmes. This debut studio LP from Noname was a very solid little record on which she raps her ass off over some sweet-if-unpretentious beats. Every feature here is a highlight but I especially enjoyed Saba's inclusion on Ace - he really makes that track stand out.
I was left feeling somewhat empty upon this initial listen as I feel the album never quite came together as one and none of the songs ever quite reached their full potential sonically, but I think that may change upon further listens.
Pretty but soul-less vocals over mediocre beats. Not enough ideas for a 10 minute EP, let alone a 20 minute mixtape.
