she looks absolutely insane on the original cover and this one is sooo gorg and “couldn’t make it any harder” is my fave in her whole discography, lowkey I think I enjoy more of man’s best friend though! this one has more of an optimism about men who can be cold and unfeeling at the flip of a switch that I certainly related to when it came out a la “seems like overnight I’m just a bitch you hate now” 🤪

I really did not like this listening to it the minute it came out in august but we live in a post-life of a showgirl world now where I know how truly bland the production and lyricism of pop girlie music can get and this is like a breath of fresh air in comparison. like it’s silly and fun and maybe these characteristics mean it could be regarded as throw-away pop music but her vocals eat down and the album is sonically consistent and the production is glittery and bright and rich. there ... read more
crazy that this album has such overall lukewarm critical and fan reception cuz it has gone centuple platinum in the ratluvr household. “regret is the feeling that lingers the longest” is an insane lyric to shake my flat white ass to. something very transgender happening in “one night/all night”. I feel a strong and inexplicable paternal attachment to these middle-aged francophonies, perhaps a past life memory triggered by brushing hands at the hyperdrama barricade. they ... read more

better than debut! Lots of 10th grade faves. Julian gets real whiny with it

I would’ve been way more into listening to this as a whole in high school when I was pretentious indie rock enjoyer teen #1, kinda grating to me now, still some bangers as follows:
- someday
- last night
the title track easy on the ears too!
truly think this album is psychotic and sinister. I actually really liked the three singles contrary to what seems to be popular opinion but the rest is slow and droning, scary drum loops, feels so… lonely? isolated? the lyrics “you’re a cinephile, I watch family guy on a friday night” rival the showgirl taylor swift school of atrocious musicality. I also listened to all 55 minutes twice in a row absolutely peaking off ecstasy and power walking around downtown vancouver ... read more
I enjoy listening to more of the songs off of currents than I like on the slow rush, but breathe deeper and posthumous forgiveness are IMO the best songs he has written musically and lyrically! will never not cry listening to posthumous forgiveness, loving someone so much and hurting them and being hurt by them and inheriting trauma and causing it and the love is just still there forever. my shameful belief is never thinking anything is ever beyond repair. tons of good tunes on this one just ... read more
A classic! reminds me of locking myself in my dorm and staying awake for days at a time in my first year of uni. gross!
these lyrics from love/paranoia were written about me:
True love is bringing it out of me
The worst in me, and I know now
Do you remember the time we were
The time we were by the ocean?
I didn't care if it was day or night
The world was right where I wanted
way more listenable and coherent than innerspeaker, very melancholy lyricism, relatable for those who are completely delusional and hopelessly romantic at the same time. saved tracks:
- why won't they talk to me
- feels like we only go backwards
- elephant
first time listen in anticipation for the new album, very beatles and steve miller band in parts but nothing worth repeating for me. music I would eat mushrooms and get heatstroke listening to. loved these lyrics from “it is not meant to be”:
And I boast that it is meant to be
But, in all honesty
I don't have a hope in hell
I'm happy just to watch her move
a fun listen for something I’ve avoided listening to in its entirety for years despite being a daft punk evangelist! obviously this rocks and is a cultural phenomenon and if I was there I would have levitated to the moon but woman worldwide has unfortunately ruined my understanding of what a “live album” (or at least a replication of a live set) has the possibility to be, I love hearing all the intricacies of live mixing and I wish I could get all that and minimal crowd ... read more
