Twisted, my personal favorite Starkid show, is the perfect combination of comedy and emotion. So many of the songs you can laugh at, until Jafar decides it’s his turn to make you cry.

I am a big, big fan of everything Starkid does. The Trail to Oregon is one of my favorite of their shows, along with Twisted and Firebringer. The way Jeff Blim wrote this fully encompasses the comedy element of Starkid that everyone loves, along with the emotional element of Starkid that everyone also loves.

I think I’ve finally found it; a show that encompasses all of the various musical elements I love.
Jane Doe’s songs bring the creepy, dark vibe to the whole thing. Karnak contributes to it with his silent-background, weird monologues.
Ocean brings a different, “I need power” kind of feeling whenever she’s around. She’s a narcissist.

Show-wise, Dear Evan Hansen is very heavy and depressing, but, I’m just focusing on the music.
The music is somewhat “quirky” and “fun” at times. Other times, though, such as “Words Fail”, it gets more emotional. I love musicals that do this; they have a generally sad plot, yet find ways to sneak in some more fun, catchy songs. Dear Evan Hansen definitely does not lack those.
